I may be bucking the majority here so I choose my words carefully. May I suggest that if a slide out is designed and manufacturered properly a cover should not be needed. It surprises me that so many spend their own money to protect a poorly designed slide in the first place. Why do we as consumers tolerate such sloppy craftsmanship? Or am I missing something here? I have missed things in the past and mean no harm. Just seems to not add up. Best of luck.

i thought this way also, so i didn't have one installed.
but now, i wish i had. you have to have had one to know of the issues that result from no cover.
because of tree sap/resin, dirt, grime, bird poop, leaves, pine needles, etc..., our slide became almost glued to the upper white seal. i had to shove the top 3x just to break the stickiness, so that i could open it. this also resulted in the seal coming loose from its mounting bracket.
i'll use a tarp w/velcro for now. when i can afford it, i'll probably get one installed.
