I was wondering if there is a way to connect a cigarette lighter to the 7 pin connection so that I could use an accessory outside the trailer. Idealy I would like to connect the "adaptor" or whatever might work to the plug on the trailer and then have a 12v receptical I could plug into. 2nd option is to connect the adaptor to the back of the truck and have the recepitical attach to the 7 pin receptical there through some sort of adaptor. Anybody have any info on this?

You could but if the tow-vehicle was wired correctly, the terminal that has the 12-volt charge power in your connector will only be on when the key is on, or in the case of a battery isolator, only when the alternator is running.
All you would need to do is get a male 7-way plug, like on the trailer, and wire the two poles of the adapter to the proper ground and 12-volt terminals in the plug.

GM sells one, and probably every dealer you call will have one. It is listed in our catalogs in a very vague way so that it looks like a 7 to 4 adapter. Send me a PM if you have trouble finding one, I'll send you back the part number.

Your OP indicated you want to use the lighter socket powered from your T battery---right?
Some "accessories" are polarity-sensitive---make sure you connect the + connection to the center-pin on your lighter socket!
Get a pair of the long "spade" DC male connectors at the auto parts store......attach them to the lighter socket + and - leads.......plug them into the 12V + and - slots in your T 7-pin connector.....and you're in business......if the lighter socket doesn't have the proper fuse, suggest you add an inline fuse.....also, a little 3M electrical tape to hold the spade connectors in your 7-pin won't hurt....

Isn't this backwards? The spade connectors would slide into the slots on the trailer-end plug but not on the tow-vehicle connector.

If you want to mainly use the connection for around the trailer, then why not come off the trailer battery, and mount the connector where you want. JMHO
