Has anyone been to this one if so what can you tell us about it, need to know if there are any big parking lot's etc. within the prk. to remove tow car, and not be rushed, due to blocking cmpgrd. road. Only one dump station? as most are this way..anything else, appreciate it.

Have camped at Alafia several times. Very nice park, definitely off the beaten path (nearest grocery store about 10 mi away). Sites are spacious and out in the open (no trees) with plenty of space between sites. There are numerous pull thrus, but we prefer the backins. The pull thrus are the type where you pull off to the side and are parallel to the road, only a few feet from the edge. If it doesn't bother you to have vehicles pass by just a few feet from your rig, you're fine! You needn't worry about your tow vehicle, there's plenty of room along the roads to unhook.

This park has many lovely hiking trails and it's popular with horse owners. In fact, when we were there in Feb., we stayed in the "horse loop" even though we don't own one! The sites there are very long and there's a nice scenic lake. It's also a popular place for off road (mountain) biking, but you need to be experienced, most of the trails are very challenging. Also when you're hiking you have to be alert because some of the biking trails intersect with the hiking ones.

Overall, it's a great place if you want peace & quiet and some of the best stargazing in Florida.

Hi 2SAM,

We stayed in Alafia River State Park for two nights in February 2007. It was a nice park with well spaced sites. There are nice trails and the little Alafia River and a small lake. You won't have any problem unhooking your toad.

Happy Camping,

Mike

Great park. You won't have any problems. It is also a horse park. When we were there, someone had rigged up a portable corral. One of their horses got loose and we had a great time watching them chase it around the CG.
