I am looking for a place to camp this coming weekend close to Denver. I was thinking of just heading down 285 and finding a FS road to turn off on and just set up in the NF. I didn't want to go to high up in elevation this early, any ideas?

Thanks in Advance

Randy

How about somewhere along the Rampart Range Road? And I think there's still some dispersed camping allowed in the Buffalo Creek area south of Pine (try off FSR 550), although some areas are now off limits due to the fire. This area tends to get less snow and dry out more quickly than other areas higher up.

Rampart Range is temporarily closed for mud season. I would hope it will re open in the next couple of weeks as things dry out.

I've been to Wellington. The road into there was very rough the time I was up there. It's a very pretty area. Fishing in the lake was horrible.

If you are OK with FS campground. You might consider South Meadows. It is about 10 miles out of Woodland Park on 67. It used to be open year round, but you might want to chaeck to be sure. Lot's of campsites and shouldn't be real crowded this time of year.

I'm leaning towards camping in the Buffalo Creek area just east of Wellington. We have a generator and would like to get away from the crowds. Anyone ever been to this area?

Thanks

Decided not to go there because of the snow they got. We went to Pueblo instead.
