Thanks in advance.

Have not towed on 105, but most all Texas highways are good you should have no trouble. 290 is a main route between Houston and Austin, so it is mostly at least four lane. Unless you just want to drive through the middle of Austin on IH35/290,I would suggest you turn on 21 at Paige and go to Bastrop. Then go into Austin via 71. 71 turns into 290 West when you cross under IH35. I tow a 35' 5er on 290 West all the time to Fredicksburg and Kerrville. Have driven 290 from Fredicksburg through Harper onto I-10 a couple of times and as best I can remember you should have no problem.

Since your name is Anchoraweigh, you might want to spend sometime in Fredicksburg. There is lots of shopping for the ladies and the Chester Nimitiz Museum of the Pacific War for the guys. IMHO, it is well worth visiting. The Lyndon B. Johnson Ranch and park is just east of Fredicksburg.

Hope this helped some.

105 from Conroe to Brennan is a good road with passing lanes in the hills. Wild flowers are in full force now. Enjoy.

From Conroe to Navasota, 105 is fine. Narrows (less shoulder) from Navasota to Brenham. You will have it easier thru Austin, if you use 21 (West of Giddings) to Bastrop, then 71 to Austin. You rejoin 290 where 71 crosses under I35. 290 and I35 are the same road thru part of Austin. Much easier (and shorter) than approching Austin on 290 from the East.

If you go the 105 route make sure you turn right at SH 6 and follow it up to the next exit and turn left or else you will wind up somewhere else. 105 makes a big jog north that is not readily apparent there. Also as you approach Brenham on 105 take a left at the first Stop light as you approach Brenham. This road will take you to 290 and not through the heart of downtown (also past the Blue Bell Ice Cream Factory).
