Yourtxlender-
For resale stick with the big names- WW, Fleetwood, NRG, Ragen, Dunes, Dessert fox, KZ, Adventure is a good one.
For which unit in each particular lineup - I need more info to give you advice.
for example - My 19 footer is pushing 8K of loaded weight, a 23 in the same line 23 would be 10K plus.
What truck do you have and what are its options - tow pack etc?
Toy haulers have much more tongue weigh than other catagories of trailer and you may need air bags if you dont have a tow kit from the factory. What will you be taking with you (bikes or quads or rino thing) and where are you going and how long do you go for?
My "19 foot" nitrous is 22.5 feet long, and 21 foot hauler is usually 24 feet etc. Unless you have a length target ignore that and go with weight as a target. As stated before, specd' dry weights are a joke from everyone.

davegvg,
thanks for the resale info. As far as my TV it will be a Nissan Armada with tow package and trailer breaks or a 08 toyota Tundra. The only reason I was leaning towards the 23 footer is because it looks like that is the shortest you can get and still
have the queen bed in the front option. I was looking at the Thor Vortex 23' featherweight because it has a dry weight of 5k which seems to be the lighest of all the 23' I've seen.
Great forum, thanks to all for the help.

We spent months researching and examining toy haulers. Can't remember all of the brands, except that Gear box seems to be having a lot of structural problems. We settled on the Cruiser RV Fun Finder Xtra 190. We considered the next larger sizes - but the beds seems to always be in the rear of the trailer. No privacy and always in the way. Ours in a full queen bed in the nose. The rest of the trailer is devoted to useable space for the kitchen and living areas. I have spent a lot of time tricking it out and have been behind the scenes to work on wiring and other features. I have found that the construction is solid and well thought out. I would make the same choice all over again.
The Durango is the 5.9L, K&N Filter, Throttle Body Insert, High Flow Exhaust, Surge Power Chip, 3:9 rear, super springs. It has no problem towing this unit and could pull much more. Don't hardly know it's back there. Can maintain 50 MPH on the steepest hill in the Blue Ridge or Smokie Mountains. Trailer tracks like a champ, even with 14" wheels. GAWR=5600 lbs.

Armada w/ Big tow is almost as good as titan w/ big tow - I say almost because Armada has independant rear supension that moves around a lot when towing and winds. - It will tow 8K without too much difficulty on flats a small hills. What makes the armada better as a people hauler than the titan makes it worse for towing heavy loads.
The new Tundra is *****in - it will tow 8K easy. Previous Tundras are a complete joke.
As for the Thor Im on their website it looks nice TH! Id say your right about the front queen and 23 - note its a 27 foot trailer though. But dry weight is a complete joke. There isnt really an accesory list only a "comparison list"-
Im suspicous of the dry weight to begin with- my 19 foot nitrous weighs in at 7700 loaded and its 5 feet shorter-! it is loaded to the gills with stuff though.
I see it says 5K "dry"-and 7700 max- dry- doesnt include
I dont see a genny - add 200LB
102 Gal water 918 lb
propane 80 LB
27 gal/fuel station gas 162 LB that gives us 6360
Does it include batteries? if not add another 110 for 2.
Now we start adding bikes and gear-
2 large quads with fuel- say 950LB
food and or ice chests 100lbs.
Misc gear.tools floor jack lights - 100lb
Your at 7510 now.
My 2 cents is that with either rig you could do it.
The armada will basically be at the limit on hilly terrain.
The tundra will have headroom.
Make sure you have a good weight distribution hitch and a good brake controller.
good luck let us know what you go with.

Personally, I wouldn't go bigger than a 21 footer with a 1/2 ton. I have a 2002 Z71 Tahoe that is tow rated at 8,500 lbs. It has the 5.3 Vortex and tow package (larger radiator, tranny cooler, oil cooler, power steering cooler, larger wheels, larger brakes, 4:10 gearing, suspension upgrades, etc). When I was looking at getting a toyhauler in late 2005, I was also looking at the 21-23' sizes. But after reading dozens and dozens of threads in this forum about LOW claimed dealer trailer weights, I lowered my expection to the 19-21' sizes instead....and I am glad I did.
This set up actually does quite well on everything except the steepest hills, when I have to gear down to 2nd and lower my speeds. Otherwise, I can easily stay in the 50-65mph range going up most hills in 3rd (towing gear) with an occassional downshift to 2nd. Average MPG has been around 10.
As it is now, fully loaded (toys and ALL fluids), my Attitude 21AK model is at or a bit over the stated tow capacity of my rig. On "some" trips, I will forgo filling my 100 gallon fresh water tank and 36 gallon fuel station until I get close to my destination (this saves about 1000 lbs of weight).
Now, could my Tahoe tow the 23' models? I am sure it could, but I would have to deal with much more stress on the truck and family too. Not worth it in my opinion.

I have an Armada with the big tow pkg and pull a Ragen 2124c and have plenty of power but I still would not go any bigger with a 1/2t. I think if I had it to do over again I would get a hybrid toy trailer - pop-up up front and a open trailer for toys in back.

well i have to say,
i love my set-up. '06 f-150 cc 5.4l 3:73, 4x4, pulling a '07 ww sl FB1900. if a had to do it all over again the only thing i would of changed would be, going up to the 21'. and the only reason why is because in the FB1900 the 2 queens cover the last 1' or so of the couches.for the wife and i the big bath room was important. i loved tent camping so not having a front bed room was no big thing.
good luck and take your time.

That's the same trailer we have and for the same reason - big bathroom! I'm also running an F-150 5.4 w/ 3.73s, only I'm two-wheel. I added air-bags to help w/ squat.
