Here's what was in front of the gate, took me about 10 minutes to clear enough for me to drive in, I even had to remove 2 from my shoes (I was kicking them away with my shoes).

Who would be driving into a storage lot for RV's and boats with nails? They were in front of the gate, seems if they were driving through, they would be on both sides, cannot accidentally lose them there driving past the lot. The gate is locked with a chain holding the two swing gates together at the center where they meet. We all have keys, and have to get out and unlock and lock coming and going. It's a rare day when more than 1 party is in the lot at the same time.
I would use great care the next time you return to the RV lot.
If I where a homeless person, and wanted to steal a RV, then putting nails into the driveway, and waiting for someone to get out, leave the RV running, and start to sweep away the nails or screws . . . . .
Just be aware. It might be someone had a box of screws, put them on the bumper of their trailer, then repaired it, returned to the RV lot, and now is wondering why they have 2 flat tires on the truck? All because they dropped off this box of screws as they entered the RV storage lot.
So while it is possible that it accidently happened, it is also possible that someone wanted to see someone leave their RV parked outside the gate with the engine running, or just an unhappy camper wanting revenge.

Money can't buy happiness but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche or Country Coach!
We had similar at the place where we used to store our TT. It was one long building of units with large open boat/RV areas on each side. There were nails all along the pavement on one side of the building. Luckily, to reach my spot, I came in the other side and parked near the end of the building.
Told managment - who did nothing. The nails were there for weeks. They were about to shut down for remodeling (turned the whole place into enclosed units).
Never could decide if the nails were thrown out on purpose. Seemed an odd spot for kids to "be mean" - the middle of the road would have caused more damage.
