If you went to the Gem and Mineral web site you would have found out it is much more than ROCKS. The Silver Shop is another of our popular activities. Chain making classes are offered in the silver shop. Currently we offer wire wrapping classes. We offer lost wax casting classes three days a week. It's not just rocks. See the link to what else you can do. Curious about the club?

Hi Ron,

I wasn't implying rocks were a bad thing as at one time I had a interest in them and still do just not all that much. I was into more gold & silver than anything. A friend had wanted to go so we stopped by for awhile. Then when I thought about going back it had already turned into a flea market and that wasn't my thing.

Too bad it just didn't stay all rock hounds tho.

Have you ever attended the gold shows in Tucson? That I would like to see but requires a invite and I've lost my contacts to it.

Then what are you doing in the desert Southwest?

Just got back from a second trip to Quartzite this year. Second time it was very quiet and peaceful.Lots of open space, free camping and ATV trails. That is our idea of a very good time.

How much ATV riding is out there? This sounds good to me.

Just because Quartz might be some place I don't want to camp doesn't make it a bad place to camp.

I'm not a desert person, maybe during the winter months I might like it, especially for the ATV riding.

Folks that love camping there might not like where I like to camp and that doesn't make where I like to camp a bad place to camp.

We all love to camp, I'm real happy it's not in the same place.

I grew up in Phoenix. It is a great place, weather wise, in the dead of winter and that's the only time I visit that area.

Quartzite is one of those love it or hate it places for long term stays, just like a lot of other places. I hate Florida. But then, I don't like the ocean either. Doesn't mean I don't find myself there for one reason or another.

We travel around the country for various reasons, business, visit kids and friends, so we do end up in places like Quartzite (and Florida) every now and then. Every place has it's nice things/activities and we look for those wherever we go. We've always driven whenever we traveled and have seen a lot of this country (and other countries) because of it. Much better than flying over it. That's the reason we have an RV.
