You'll notice I threw a caveat in there for people who have nothing nice to say.
If you want to shower at your campsite, buy a wide basin to shower in so the dirty water doesn't go everywhere. Then dump the grey water out in an appropriate place. We only use our solar shower for campsites without showers and it's not as easy at it would seem. More work than just waiting in line or shower in the evening instead.

Good advise. Especially for people using a hotwater heater and pump. But using a bag-type solar shower in very dry climates like So. Cal. it's not usually necessary. They use so little water, and the water evaporates so quickly that it's hardly noticeable.

Really? What do you find not easy? Fill bag with water. Lay bag under sun. Hang bag from tree. Stand under bag. Pretty easy.
Granted, I haven't used my solar shower in quite a while, but I used to use it often and I don't remember it being hard. Wait, one time it was a pain. I tried to use it out in the middle of the desert. Nothing to hang it on. I had to hold it over my head with one hand and wash with the other. That was not so easy. Regardless, I'm just curious why you find it difficult.

It's pretty tough out West. You can't hang, tie, or attach ANYTHING to a tree, shrub,branch, etc. It's getting pretty crazy out here.
Uh-oh. I'm from So Cal and haven't heard anything about "hangin' stuff from trees restrictions." Am I breaking some new enviro-code? I'm well aware of the long standing rule against driving anything INTO trees, and the reason behind that rule is quite obvious. But nothing about throwing a twine or rope over a branch for a shower, food bag, lantern, etc. Yikes! I guess this could be number 143 on my list of reasons why I don't stay in campgrounds (I'm not really keeping track, but the list would be substancial ).
I use a solar shower when I camp at the Boston Harbor Islands. There is no fresh water on the islands, just composting toilets. Nobody ever bothered me about it, including the Ranger who came by for coffee.
I hang a silnylon tarp in a circle for privacy and then put it back over the table when I'm done.

No smoking, no noise after 10 pm, drown your fire at 11, nothing hanging or attached to a tree or bush whatsoever, etc., etc. All San Diego County Parks Campgrounds (some of the nicest around) have vigorous ranger patrols with all kinds of rules and restrictions about what and when you can do this and that. We've had them yell at us and come as many as 6 times in one day to harass us (the neighbors agreed we weren't bothering anybody). It's pretty sad how easily people are willing to give up their freedoms in exchange for empty promises of a better life!

Looks like I'll be staying out of San Diego County Parks. Too bad! I love San Dog. Oh well. I guess I'll just stick to the Gas Lamp, Old Town and The Murph (or whatever they're calling it now).
I've wondered about this myself. Most places I've camped have huge sites, so setting up a shower at one corner shouldn't really make that much of a mess I would think. Not 100% sure though. We dump our grey water from doing dishes off the side of the site and never had any problems from rangers.
Been in a few soggy-smelly blue/grey water soaked sites left by inconsiderate folk who just don't care about the next poor duck in the line. No dry place to put tent - chairs etc. Don't know where you guys camp -- BUT the NatParkRangers I know and talk to really FROWN on it. Follow the rules - respect the rest of us - & no-one will have reason to harass you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
