I don't know...I had the RV repair man (while he was doing the walk through)tell me to put one gallon of diesel in a full tank of gas in my gas MH once and a while for the same reasons. I have not had the nerve to try it yet. Let me know how it works out if you decide to doe it.

I have heard of people using Trans fluid for years, I have used Marvel Mystery Oil in the past but now I use Lucas Gas Treatment , it seems to be an oil based treatment. It won't hurt your engine to use Trans oil and it will clean the carbon up but I have never heard of putting that amount in before ( 3 Qt's ) seems excessive. Lucas gas treatment only calls for 3 oz for every 10 gals.

I just wonder what it would do to the catalytic converter, and even if the exhaust would smoke, the gal of diesel in a 50 gal tank, is like the 50 to 1 mix for a 2 cycle outboard motor, and they smoke.

There is no way I would add that amount of transmission fluid to the gas tank.
If any thing I would probably add Berrymans injector cleaner or something similiar that is specifically designed for that purpose. I think transmission fluid is a bad idea.

The OP doesnt say any different, so Ill assume hes talking about an RV generator that runs off the trucks 50g gas tank. I will add several 6oz bottles of injector cleaner per year to the trucks gas tank, the type that absorbs water, and cleanse the fuel system including the injectors.
And on a Ford with MPFI I can really notice a difference in how it runs, it idles smother, runs smother and has more power. And it may also have some effect on the small amount of this gas that the generator in the MH Burns, but carburetors dont get restricted as easily as fuel injectors, plus its not as easy to notice an improvement in its operation compared to the the trucks V-10 engine.
But if you put 4 to 6 bottles of the injector cleaner in the truck, then fill the tank, and do this once a year, both engines would run better.
I have taken a Ford service truck with 70K miles of cheap gas, and run 4 bottles of cleaner through it, and it really made an noticeable difference in how it ran, so now we do it to all the trucks. But not ATF or Diesel.

Like others, I have heard about Trans Fluid, but still like others - I will try other things first. I have been using Sea Foam and it has really worked well. I put it in a neighbors tank when he couldn't get his gen to stay online...cleared his carb up and saved a visit to RV Dealer. There is a another product (Deep Creep) which is same but in a spray version that I've used on mowers, and small engines - great results.

Personally, I swear by Marvel ystery Oil. I use it on my motorcycles as well and once had a mechanic mention after rejetting the carbs on one of my H-Ds that the fuel system was exceptionally clean. No proof- but I attribute to MMO.

We used to pour tanny fluid straight into the carbs of normally aspirated cars with the notion is cleaned the system. Funny though, we never once thought about adding it to the gas tank. Might be worth a try - for someone other than me.

tranny fluid/diesel fuel are old tales from the past ,yes they did work back in the old days ,but I never put it in the new injected motors , I use seafoam or berrymens . both are good products . I:VE seen the sea foam eat up laquered up old gas . stick with the new products on the market.
