Picked up a VuQube @ CW today...$699...New in sealed box. Checked out the contents with salespeople before we left CW. All seemed A-OK. Got back to the rig & attempted to set it up.

Dead batteries on remote. Replaced.

"Rotate" doesn't.

Will call manufacturer in the morning to find out the skinny. Also intend to ask them why they can't mold a security ring/attachment onto one side of the unit.

Heckuva concept & I think it will probably fit under the side of my rig & still work. Think I'm also gonna see about having a plate with a security loop made that fits on the bottom of the dish so I can cable to a landing leg.

Anybody got any info/help to offer?

As for possible theft of the Vuqube, I removed the rubber foot pads from the Vuqube and installed a steel strap between two of the feet and another steel strap between the other two feet. I then reinstalled the rubber pads on top of the steel straps. I then put a padlock around the steep strap with a cable lock to the motorhome. I hope that I have at least discouraged the Vuqube from growing legs and walking off the campsite.

I really like our unit and had no initial problems with remote. Best of luck.

Hey, ya...that would probably work too. Anything to discourage some nut that doesn't understand that it needs a remote to be of any value. I wonder why the carry handle isn't a full half-circle?

Interested to see what kind of telephone support I get tomorrow!

Report follows in about 24 hours!

I'd look into putting a ubolt on one to attach locking cable to.

The VuCube makes very good sense for RV usage. Portable and nearly as easy to set up as a roofmount automatic. But I just can't believe that they won't be a prime target for thieves, just like portable generators. I didn't know that they won't work without a specific remote. So I'd guess that most thieves won't know that either. I keep my little Honda 2000 chained up while in actual use, but as soon as I turn it off, it comes inside for safe keeping.

After fighting with cheap portable dishes and tripods for a couple of years, I finally decided this past March to do something different. The interior height of my barn at home prevented me from permanently installing a standard roof top dish system on my Class A, and I felt the new folding Trav'ler was too expensive. While camping in Nashville TN, in early March, I picked up the VuQube at Camping World. Now when I camp and the view to the southern sky allows, I'll put the VuQube on the roof at the top of my ladder.

For security, I added a steel loop to mine when I got home. A security chain will attach the unit to the ladder or any other nearby immoveable object.

See this link for info and pictures of installing the security loop...

All satellite TV is digital. The receivers convert for analog TVs. Perhaps you meant High Definition.

Be aware that as soon as you open the unit without factory consent/notation, you have voided the short 12 months warranty.

At least that's what the instruction sheet I saw advised.
