Just picked up a Lance 815 this weekend. 04 for $8500. I felt like it was a good deal. Drove around 700 miles to go get it near gunnison CO. I'm pretty stoked. The guy I bought it from was real nice and installed his happijac setup on my truck for me and we loaded the camper and took off.
One jack wouldn't turn up or down without pressure. Now it won't go up or down. I popped the cover off of the top of the jack. The horizontal gear seems to ride above the ball bearing pice and just spin. Does anyone know what I need to do to fix it?
I've got the camper on a 00 chevy 1/2 ton. Seems to ride well. WE battled heavy winds all the way home through WY then icy roads. Everything was fine. I added a set of timbrens before we went to pick it up.
Where do you get the little propane bottles that fit in the side door for the camper?

Welcome to the TC forum, I bought mine in 2002(new 2003 model), Lance 815 are good built unit that can take a lot of rough handling. Contact the jack manufactor for what to do,but I think from what you decribe it may have to be replaced. The compartment where the propane goes any barbeque size tank will fit,I bought a couple of extra tanks at Costco.
What extras came with the camper? Ours was a fairly basic model with the only two options, air conditioning and extented cabover. If you have any more questions a Lance 815 just send me a private message.

It is fairly basic. It is the extended cab version. I want to add the outside shower and the cupboards above the table are just cupboards. I have seen where it can be a fold down bed as well. I wonder if you can retrofit that option in? Has anyone done that?
I am going to add the shortbed pods to the rear of the camper as well.
I am working on pics.

What year 815? The pods are easy to install. The bolt holes and taillight plug ins are already there. If you look inside the door under the bath sink you'll see that it's already framed for the outside shower. Not too hard to install the shower. If I can be of any help feel free to PM me.

We use the cabinet over the table for storage,it's laid out flat with a cargo net across the front. Storage containers that I bought from Costco fit very well front to back and can be stacked 2 high. You most likely have the Norcold 300 refrigerator,if so this is a pretty much manual operated unit(no PC board). It's a very realible unit and it does need to have the propane to no less than 10.5" W.C. to operate correctly, the closer to 12"W.C. the better. Check to see if you have the Lance installed battery isolator it will be located under the sink on the front bulkhead. If you don't have a battery isolator, get one.
Do you have the aluminum roof or the TCP roof? This is what I did for a ROOF RACK

I have an 04 815 on a 1/2 ton Gmc 4+4. Mine has the short box mods, Queen bed, air, the fold down bunk, oven, ext shower, alum roof, front window. I paid 9k but I had to go to Ca and get it. I was looking for a reason to go anyhow. I have added stereo, XM, flat screen TV, micro. I really like the thing. Its not too dang big but it has all the comforts I need. Me and the High Maintenance Girlfriend spent a month in it last summer. We went to the Black Hills down through Co into Az then back up through Utah back to the Hills. We planned on spending a few nights in a hotel but we never did. Good luck with yours and you can always PM me if you have any ?. Us little guys need to stick togather.

I installed the short bed mods on my 815. It was a snap and took me about an hour. Would have been quicker but the holes for the wiring was not predrilled. Everything else was. After cutting the wiring holes it was just 4 bolts each side. Line up, tighten up, plug em in, chalk the seams, done. Really like them. The extra storage is always useful. IMO, the "folding bunk" above the table is not strong enough to be used as a bed and I certainly would not put a kid up there. It is nice to be able to open it to put larger items in the storage space.

Partagas, Congratulations on the TC. The 815 is a good choice for a TC. It has been for us. We don't have the xtra storage that the pods would provide, had wished for the fold down bunk also. Not sure how strong the fold down bunk is. Enjoy!
