I HAVE JUST PURCHASED A 2008 JAYCO 32BHDS (7800 LB DRY) AND PLAN ON PULLING IT WITH MY 2006 CHEVY SUBURBAN 2500 LT AUTORIDE (6.0 LITER WITH 4:10 REAR END). I AM CONCERNED WITH MY TRUCK PULLING THIS HEAVY OF A TRAILER. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPERIANCE OR COMMENTS TO HELP ME EASE MY MIND OR SHOULD I LOOK INTO ANOTHER TRUCK. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE WIFE USES IT AS A DAY TO DAY TRUCK TO HULL THE KIDS AROUND.
THANKS

First, please turn off the caps lock as it implies you are yelling and makes it very hard to read.
No to address your question. You will be in great shape with the 2500 Suburban. The towing capacity of the Sub is more than sufficient and the 6 liter engine is very stout. The 8.1 engine would have been even better but you will not have any issues.
I have had three Suburbans and as looking at the 2500 Suburbans and was encountering problems finding one at a reasonable price. I did a lot of research and no one had any negative feedback on the 2500 Suburbans with either engine.
Congratulations on your new Jayco. We love ours and if we decide to get another TT it will be a Jayco as well. You will be more than pleased with your rig.

It will pull it but like he said the 8.1 big block would pull that TT very easy.

I doubt you'll need air bags. 7800 dry is about 9500 wet. That means you'll have about 1000lbs of tongue weight.
With the right W/D set up it should be no problem for a 3/4 ton Burb.

Suspension wise you will be fine. You may want a little more power than the 6.0 will give you but as long as you are not in a hurry you should be fine.

Biggest problem with SUVs is that you run out of payload before you hit the tow rating. I'll bet he's only 9000 or so wet, but that will be plenty.
Truck is 6500 lbs empty, plus 1000 lbs tongue weight, plus 900 lbs passengers = 8600 GVWR. It's worse with the Excursion because of the high empty weight.
8600 GVWR plus 8000 trailer (9000-1000 on the tongue) = 16,600 GCW against 17,000 GCWR.
It will pull it, but you'll be wishing you had the 8.1.

Your truck will do it but you'll feel the trailer behind you, especially in the hills. Nice trailer! I can see myself in one in another year or so...

You'll be OK but your tongue weight will be over 1000 lbs closer to 1200lbs. Suspension wise you'll be fine. The 6.0 gasser will be adequate. A 8.1 would be a a better fit. Since you already have the 6.0 give it a try. Overall the 2500 Burb will be able to handle the TT without any safety issues. If you feel the need for more power you can always upgrade to a Big Block later.

He has the autoride....doesn't that already have factory Airbags in the rear? If it works like the air suspension did in my old Expedition it will fill the airbags manually to raise the rear of the truck up hooked to a heavy trailer. So in otherwords no need for aftermarket air bags.
Yes a 8.1L would be better, but you wont find it in a new Suburban. I doubt this gentleman wants to get rid of his new 2008 'Burban for a used '06 or older.
