Why Can-Am RV of course right here in London, ON! Great dealer -- knows more about towing than anyone else I've read about, heard about or talked to.

Lat year we were in Polson, MT when the Vintage car show folks hit town.....guess it's a huge annual event. Anyway, there were a bunch of vintage cars pull into the KOA pulling TT, pop-ups and etc. Some were really neat with TT's of the matching year.
Also, got into the vintage Airstream get togeather in Sisters, OR and saw the same thing.
I tried to do that with my '72 MB 300SEL and a 73 Bambi but the MB tranny just wouldn't hold up. Great idea, looked really cool as the MB was silver but turned out to be a HUGE expense. My DW reminded me that not all my ideas are good.

This is from the vintage forum here. I posted a Pontiac ad about different options for 1970 full sized cars. Very interesting.
1970 GM ad for options to pull RV trailers.
In the same post I have pictures of the TinCan Tourist here in Michigan. It was a great show... that reminds me it must be coming up very soon.

About three years ago I pulled my old tractors around with either a 2003 Tundra or a 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood with RWD. Some trips were several hundred miles. The car did a much better job than the truck. Total weight pulled was about 7000 pounds. Trailer had surge brakes and Bull Dog hitch, no WDH. My dad used to pull a TT with a Ford and then a Lincoln but I do not remember the trailer sizes. I do remember the handle for the brakes. If he had problems with the cars I have forgotten them. That said, I believe we are much safer now than in the past and the TT's are longer.

Back to the original questions...
Didn't Lucy and Desi's trailer have a dolly wheel on the front similar to this?

I was thinking in a scene or two you could see the smaller wheel holding up the front of the trailer.

Yes, they used something like that in the movie. The trailer hitch went on the dolly, then the dolly hooked to the car. They talk about it in the movie when he picks the trailer up from the shop that installed the hitch.
