I would think the smell would get to you long before they had a chance to degrade. Can you imagine opening that closet door!!

I don't think anybody would keep loaded ones in the coat pocket.
Melted plastic is messy enough.
Keep track of how long you've had them....I had a batch of biodegradable bags start to break down before I got around to using the whole box. Unpleasant surprise to be traveling with the dogs, heading out the door for a 2 am walk, and have your hand go right through the ribbons and shreds of the bags!
