We are looking to camp in Orlando in March of '09 (need to book early to get a spot) and are looking for suggestions. The Disney campgrounds are way too expensive. Would need to have a heated pool and playground for DS and DD.

Been searching the net but no luck so far and the only one, Ponderosa RV park will only start taking reservations July 1st.

Any suggestions and contact information would be great.

Thanks,

Just thought that I would suggest another very nice campground in that same community. We normally stay at Mickey's Place but we made a rather unscheduled trip to the Theme Parks in late November for 3 days. This campground is called Outdoor Resorts at Orlando. It is located at 9000 US Highway 192, in Clermont Florida. It is a straight shot 5 miles from the Disney property. It is a very good sized complex of about 1,000 sites. Half are occupied by Park Model Homes, but the remainder are open and available and can accomodate larger RV's.
I did not see any pull through's but there very well could have been several. It is a pretty location positioned on a good sized lake. It is a secure gated community. Has a resturant, nice club house and a real great pool area. Their telephone number is 863-424-1407.
It is very handy to the Disney Theme Parks. There are about 3 or 4 miles of assorted resturants and other touristy businesses along that highway as you approach the Disney property area. I don't recall precisely what it cost but I believe that it was in the $30. to $35. range per night. It was really a very nice, secure and clean facility.
Just another option to consider, that is well within a short drive to the Disney areas and is reasonably priced.

Will you be going to Disney while you are there? If so, you need to consider the "extras" that come with staying at Fort Wilderness. Parking at Disney is $10/day (maybe more by next year). If you are staying on property, you park free or can take Disney transpertation, and get in the parks early and get to stay later (certain parks on certain days). Fort Wilderness is a destination all by itself IMHO.

Good Luck,

David

Right beside Outdoor Resorts is Encore Lake Magic, 2 heated pools. Check the website for prices. If you go to Fort Wilderness, parking is free and you can rest and eat in your RV. Food is EXPENSIVE at Disney. You are from Canada, presently the exchange rate is in your favor.

I just booked for March 09 at Fort Wilderness. Did you check out the prices at TP yet for March 09. I just checked and I was shocked.

I heard Turkey lake State Park in orlando is about $18 for water and electric and is quite nice, check out the info on the florida state park website, but like camping mode said, consider the extras plus the price of gas and the price of time running back and forth. Also you will be exhausted from being at the park and who would want to fight traffic or just driving to where you were staying when you could take a boat ride or a bus ride and your at your home away from home. Best of luck but I think if you camp the fort once you will be hooked. It is pretty cheap for camping if you think about it, and if you can get a AAA auto discount of about 10-15% it would be well worth it to stay there. See if you can get an Orlando Magic Card discount for Disney also, that is the local florida Card that offers some nice discounts and the card is free from the florida tourism website. Let us know how you make out and send me a pm if you need any more questions answered about the fort.

Thanks for all your help. I think we will be booking at Outdoor Resorts. Talked to the girl there and it seems to be just what we are looking for. We went to Disney in 07 so don't plan on going there in 09. Probably just Universal Studios and maybe the water park.

Thanks for all your help. If there are any other suggestions I would like to hear them as I can't book Outdoor Resorts until July 1.

Thanks,
