A poster on one of these day-night repair threads suggested using
fishing line instead of the various types of string.
~
Also metal (aluminum?) sewing bobbins in place of the plastic.
~
Anyone tried that?

Rvshaderepair

I have used Rvshade repair in the past and sent the shade out on a monday and had it back by friday. The cost was reasonable. Harder to find is a place where you can buy a new shade at a reasonable price. I found one in Pennsylvania but it took a lot of looking.

We were told not only to travel with them up, but store it with them up. That way they won't lose their shape.

I got one at RV surplus in Elkhart IN. They had a lot of them there and I had to look through them to find the one I needed. I measured mine and took a tape measure and found one that matched for $20.00. In my case it was certainly worth the effort.

When we bought our 5'r, we were told to travel with the shades down or they could be damaged. That is the way we have been traveling with them and haven't elongated any holes yet.

My dealer told us the opposite. We travel with them up so they don't bang on the walls a scratch them up

On the bottom of my day/night blinds was a phone # and a address, I called the # and they sent me string and the instructions free. It was very easy to replace the string. I repaired several of mine and the work perfect.

Great idea! I will be calling the number on the bottom of my blinds tomorrow. By any chance, do you recall the name of the company?

Mine are made by SWC, specialty window coverings in Elkhart, IN.
