I would much rather replace tires in a controlled situation and at a place of my choice. When you watch DBL or triple axle trailers back into a spot, you can see those tires take a beating. I would not take a chance.

BTW my motorhome tires are looking the same as you describe. I will get new Goodyear's at a tune of $2800 before our first trip. That is if I get this darn bathroom remodel done.

Hi All.

Lets put it this way. Do you have all of your insurances up to date. Including your Life insurance also. Because you are going to be gambleing with your lifes. Cracks in tires is a Huge No No. I agree, that three years is rather soon. But then again, like another poster said, you have to keep your tires covered, when not in use. The sun will do more damage to ST tires faster than anything else. Miliage on them means nothing at all, as you will never wear out a set of ST tires, as they will crack long before that. The real only chice you have now, is to replace them with new tires. Here is a trick that I learned many many years ago. Who ever you buy your tires from, have them special order fresh tires right from the manufactor, not some warehouse where god knows how long that they have been sitting. When I order my tires, I tell them, I won't except any tires older than two weeks old, and all of them must be from the same batch number, and manufactor date on each tire. I inspect them with the owner, or the store manage at the tire shop, before the tires are installed. In 40+ years of RVing, we have been very lucky, as we have never had a Flat Tire, or a Blow-Out. It has worked out very well for us. Myself, if I see even one tire, just starting to crack, it's time for all tires to be replaced. Think of it this way. Tire are cheap, compaired to the damage that a blow out can cause. Not to mention how much you have invested in your RV and TV. Just ask those who have taken some serious damage to thier RV's from Blow-Outs. Its just not worth the risk, Period. Good Luck. Happy Camping. Dan & Jill

I know money can be a factor. If you can at all replace them. Maxxis is usually at a good price and very reliable.

I bought Maxxis for my 18.5 foot fifth wheel and like them, and I think they were good price.

Well I thought that was going to be the answer and I agree with all about getting them replaced. Its not a money issue, I just wasnt sure if I was over-reacting and throwing out decent tires for nothing. Heading to check-out a new set from local LES SCHWAB fellas this am. Thanks for all the help!

I'd replace them for many of the above reasons and pictures. I replaced the ones on my TV for the same reason. Just one less thing to worry about while travelling. Tires never seem to blow anywhere except narrow 2 lane roads without shoulders.

Change them now while it is alot cheaper. The damage from a blowout can cost as much or more than a set of tires.

I drove a long time (if you consider 600 miles a long time) on horribly cracked tires.

I never had a blowout, but I did finally change them out due to the stress of knowing they could go at any second.

The stress of driving on them and waiting for a blowout is a good enough reason for me.

I'm in the same boat with good tread and side wall cracks. Have any of you heard of or used the Hercules hercumile st trailer tires. I can get them from work at $52.00 a piece or goodyear marithons for $75.00 a piece. Both have the same 6ply and 1760lbs.
