I wish someone would tell me their theory on making money by going south for the winter?

We generally figure it costs nothing to go south for the winter

Cancel newspaper: Monthly savings $20.00
Cancel Garbage pickup: Monthly savings $35.00
Phone Service on hold: Monthly savings $25.00
Cancel High Speed Internet: Monthly savings $70.00
Cancel Cable TV: Monthly savings $35.00
Cancel Snow plow service: Monthly savings $50.00
Turn Heat down to 50 degrees: Monthly savings $200.00
Elect use furnace only: Monthly savings $70.00
Dental work done in Mexico Monthly savings $120.00
-----------------------------------------------------
Total Monthly savings est: MONTHLY SAVINGS $625.00

Remember the cost of home heating up north will be way up too.

Not changing our plans. We'll be going to Mesa AZ as usual for the winter. Might think a little at $8 a gallon but not if the wife decides! If you don't spend it on fuel it'll be something else! I just can't stay still for very long. Gotta keep moving.

Heating fuel up to $4.20 a gallon and come winter will go up as always, so cheaper to go south then stay home,

I am looking for an RV pad to buy down in the valley--prefer the Mission area. The problem is trying to look via the internet and not being there to see the neighborhood. We plan to leave the rv there and travel to other areas from there. I don't think the fuel problem will improve much. There are 1.3 billion Chinese that are quickly becoming consumers. Add other expanding economies such as India, ect. and we are screwed. The petroleum genie is out of the bottle unless we increase production and refining capabilities.

made a change to our winter plans last year, best idea we had, we'll be doing it again this year too ...Cabo San Lucas, plenty of north americans in our park and a Home Depot, costco, etc right across town.

warm sun, great weather, fine people and my dollar was worth $5 and everything that cost $15 in Tucson was 50 cents there.

The last time we went to San Benito the fuel was $3.50 a gallon(US) plus there was a 20% exchange rate on the CDN dollar..that worked out to about $4.20 a gallon.....now fuel is about $4.75 a gallon (US) and there is no exchange rate to speak of.....The increase for us will be minimul.......so far.... future could change that....

Regular gasoline is $3.89 and diesel $4.78 in San Benito today. Diesel is reportedly selling for $2.30 per gallon in Mexico.

Anyone know if there is a gas station convenient to Nuevo Progresso Mexico that is close enough to be worthwhile crossing.
