Hey, snowbirds what are we going to do next year if fuel continues to go up? Just curious what everyone is thinking. At what point do we give it up?

I don't "snowbird" but I won't give up either.... even if it means permanently camping in my driveway and building a campfire in my Smoker Grill!

Just because you "go South" doesn't mean you have to roam - go and SIT IN THE SUN! Look at it this way...a 12/pk of cokes is more than a gallon of gas - cut out some other non-necessities - wear your clothes longer - or you could join a nudist colony and save on clothes that way! (hee, hee!) But last, but not least - keep your sense of humor and remember - "This too shall pass."

I'm not convinced that "this too will pass."

Head south to the Rio Grande Valley as usual.
May go out to eat a few less times to make up the difference.
If you look at the total fuel cost it is high but if you just look at how much more it is than last year it doesn't look as bad & it will be doable.

Still beats the house payments I was making, fuel will have to go a lot higher to match those

NO JOKE! When or IF our house ever sells, we'll save over $1,500 a month in pmt. and expenses. Our road expenses will be a LOT less - even if we drive a lot.

We traveled to our mobile home in RGV in our motor home last year then parked it and used it for short trips during the winter. This year we'll travel down in our car and hotel it for the short trips. Gas this spring cost us just over $1100 to Canada. You can have a lot of fun in Texas for that kind of money!!!! - just in case you're wondering, gas is $1.25 a litre here ths morning - $4.72 a US gallon!!!! Eh????

Hi Everyone,we also will head back to sw Arizona, they way I figure the costs: one of us could buy a plane ticket from Toronto to Phoenix(just one of us), thats about the cost of diesel for the one way trip. But we stay 5 months, dragging our 38'home with us, along with the cat..we could not fly and rent a motel and a car for the five months for the cost of that ticket..and I can put the snow blower back in the garage and not worry..Life is short, use it while you can..! will see all our friends and the sunny days this coming winter-for sure! It will change nothing for us as we will go to Florida again for 5.5 months. Last winter I only put on a little over 5000 miles and that includes driving back and forth from Toronto to Dunedin/Kissimmee/Fort Myers Beach.
