I agree with CardinalRule. I ran the numbers recently too and found out our expenses are probably more if we stay home during the winter.
And my hubby cannot work in his shop or outside when it's cold and rainy so sits inside and sleeps or bugs me--LOL! We would rather go to Quartzsite, AZ and be with all our friends, and ride our quad in the nice warm sunny days. (Hope this coming winter is better than last winter }
But I know there will be less people traveling this summer and winter due to the fuel prices. I know we cancelled a summer trip to the OR coast because of it and will just do a few camping trips close-by. But, basically, will be saving those $$$ for our winter trip south.

We're going to AZ. One more winter like this one (yes, it's still here!) would probably kill us!

We will also be going back to Yuma next year. We will just have to be a bit more conservative. By the way, it is SNOWING here. Supposed to get 3 to 5 inches today. There is NO WAY that we won't go south next winter. See ya in Yuma.

Paul

Lord willing and if the hogs don't brake down the fence, I'm going back to Yuma, it was my first time this last Winter and I loved it, looking forward to it again!

We've already got our reservations in for the same spot at the same park in Phoenix. The only difference is next year we're staying until April 30. This year we left April 15 and it was still cold when we got home.

You only live once, might as well enjoy it while you can.

We too will continue to go to FL for 5 mos in the winter. We are considering closing the house up including draining the plumbing and placing antifreeze in the baseboard oil fired hot water heating system. In the past we have set the heat at 50 F and let it run. Has anyone experienced any negatives with this approach???

Cole I am with you on the shutting down the house and draining the system BUT was wondering how you pump your antifreeze though the system, at heating fuel getting close to 4 dollars a gallon I also want to shut the house down, I was going to blow the lines out with air.

Dona--Nice meeting you also at the QIA craft show. Maybe we can talk longer next winter. Hope it is warmer but it will be nicer in QZ than in Redding for sure. Have a good summer. Pat
