I know about pride in ownership, brand loyalty, etc. Just curious if the merger takes place between Chrysler and Nissan would you refuse to look at another Titan with obviously some Dodge parts? Or Dodge owners having problems with Nissan parts? As a Dodge owner I would have to say I would not hesitate one bit for another Dodge truck, Nissan parts or not. I am also anxious to see what they will come up with together for an economy sedan. Personally I think it is a good move for both companies.

Chrysler has been lacking a good extremely fuel efficient small car for a couple years now. I look forward to see what they come up with, possibly as a replacement for my wife's current 2004 Neon. Although she has her eyes on a red Avenger, so we may not be able to wait that long. I just have a hard time parting with the Neon since it consistently returns 35 mpg highway, and has been a great car. Hopefully the new small car that Nissan builds for Chrysler will help to fill this void.

1995 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie SLT 4x4 5.9L V8 low miles, It ain't pretty, but it's paid for!
My current vehicle is listed below. Great truck. My third Nissan truck. My next one will likely be a Titan. But if it has Chysler parts/design, I'm not interested. I've owned big 3 products for years. If I wanted something from them, I'd buy a big 3 product. Frankly, they are the reason I now drive a Nissan! In less than 70K miles, my last Ford had the tranny rebuilt, rotors warped twice, power steering gearbox ruptured a seal, ABS computer failed twice, A/C needed to be recharged, rain gutter rusted through, steering would track straight, blah blah. In that same number of miles, my previous Nissan needed a new battery, that's it. Owned a Chrysler and a few Chevrolets too. They also had far more issues than any of my Nissans.
I'm glad there's competition. But I don't like when they merge. Bad for everyone. Lack of competition, product suffers. Tell me how good Isuzu is with their Chevrolet parts (yea, I had one of them too - junk!).
Nissan has a winning truck, why merge with anyone? I'm sure Chrysler fans won't be real happy about having Japanese parts on their trucks (already do, but they don't talk about it in public - LOL).
From the way the merger reads, Nissan will be giving Chrysler a version of the Versa and Nissan will be getting a Ram that is "unique to Nissan",whatever that means. Chrysler wants a ready to go B class car. I guess the Chery models are a ways out from being ok for the US market. Chrysler is also the last of the Big 3 to do the B class thing. GM has the Aveo and Ford has Euro models that are ready to bring over whenever they want. From what has been speculated it will be a Ram Chassis, engine, tranny and so on. Basically a reskin. Really not sure what Nissan is thinking. If they think sales were slow for the current Titan, wait till they see how a reskinned Ram does. Dodge buyers will buy Rams and if Dodge continues with the lifetime warranty who in their right mind would buy a Nissan just for a different interior and sheet metal. Not sure what Nissan is thinking. These things never work out well. Ask GM about their butchering of Saabs with Subaru WRX underpinnings and Trailblazer underpinnings. Those tanked quick. I won't even mention the Mitsubishi Raider/Dodge Dakota. I think I have seen more Lambourghinis in the last 2 years than Raiders. DO they even sell them any more?? I am kind of curious as to what direction both companies are headed in this deal. Nissan is still slated to manufacture the current Titan for 2-3 more years. They invested a lot of money in the Titans 5 speed and the 5.6L as well and both would appear to be shelved as well except for use in the Pathfinder. Who knows what the deal with the Armada is. Those are Nissan's slowest selling vehicle. Would be odd to site slow Titan sales for the switch then soldier on with a 20-24,000 unit vehicle basedoff the same platform and drivetrain.
Pevious owners of both, I wouldnt have a problem, really dont care.. If it would be something I like, than yes.... I really dont know what benefit dodge gets out of it, OTHER than the small car.. Nissan in my opinion Makes a Very Good truck, I dont think they need dodge either, EXCEPT to break into the Diesel market, Or to sell To the "I am an American Crowd", but still being part "japanese" would they still avoid it??
Whatever the two come up with I think I would avoid the first year of it....

To the Nissan faithful,,, Don't give up. Part of Nissan's Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) line-up will include trucks in the 250 class and up. These will not be off the Dodge production lines, they will come out of the Nissan facility in Mississippi.
As a loyal Nissan Titan owner, I'm a little skeptical of the merger. If the two companies would take the best that they have to offer and combine the two, I feel it would be an awesome truck! Unfortunately, I don't think this will happen. There is too much marketing ploys and each manufacturer wants it's piece of the market.
I feel that Nissan has a superior light duty v-8 and transmission, but Dodge has a very firm foothold in the 3/4 ton market with the CTD engine and platform. Will we see the best of bolth worlds? I sincerely hope so. In the meantime, I will stick to my current (or maybe a newer!) Titan and watch what the market does.
