Please provide additional information: Year, configuration of truck, brand, year, make, model of trailer, known weights of truck and trailer, brand/type/model of hitch, bar capacity(weight). That kind of stuff to allow a fellow rv'er to make an educated guess.

Just off hand (and assuming we're talking a travel trailer and not a 5th wheel) I would say that your hitch head needs to be adjusted/tilted down. This would give your distribution bars additional clearance to be adjusted tighter.

My son and I had the hitch in every position last night. Even flipped it over and tried all them heights. Even moved my tension bar holding brackets in different areas. I was first trying to keep my tt sorta level. I see what your saying. So I should forget about keeping the tt level. The front of the tt will be lower around 2 - 3 inches. That would give me more room to tighten the bars.
Oh will he be mad when i ask for more help. Oh well if he wants money he'll get busy. SO... bottom line is that my truck should not drop when the camper and hitch are on and tightened.

It will drop but it should drop evenly across the four corners if adjusted correctly and yes, TT should be slightly nose down.

KBw28wildwwod - hope this makes sense and I'm not giving you information you already know.

The tilt of the hitch head has nothing to do with the height of the ball. Here is a link to some detailed instructions on the proper way to set up a weight distribution hitch. The hitch head assembly is #2 on page 2 of the instructions. Once you determine what the correct height of the hitch head assembly should be and attach it to the shank, the hitch head should have the capability to adjust/tilt up or down. By tilting this down, it also tilts the position of the weight distribution bars down, thus giving you more adjustment/lift from your bars.

Be aware that Chevy trucks may not settle evenly on all four corners because of bump stops up front. The general rule for Chevys is that the front remains the same as when unhitched. Here is an article. link

What would happen if you put 900 lbs in the back of the pick up bed? It'll drop I suspect. It sounds like you are expecting it to not drop at all. My truck drops at least 2 inches, regardless of the wd hitch setup. You are stll putting quite a bit of weight on the hitch ball and it will drop or settle. Most pickups are butt up unloaded and adding any weight will bring them down some depending on the weight. Even if you believe that the wd hitch is actually taking weight off the hitch ball (I don't believe it is)You still have 400-600 lbs on the ball. Might want to go and measure it.

Thanks all fellow campers. I have the instructions for my equalizer hitch and will be putting my truck down on the level road tonight. Will post my corrections tomorrow.
