have you ever removed the underbelly of the rig - have a gray water leak when the shower is on for awhile - doesn't happen all the time but it does happen - my son and I will remove the belly and try to find the leak and patch it - don't know if its the actual gray water tank or in the pipe - anyone ever do this or have any advice - Bob

on my trailer there was about 50,000 self tapping bolts holding the plastic underbelly on. i used my cordless drill and my creaper to remove the plastic underbelly. it helped being on a real smooth surface. depending on how your underbelly is, one piece or multiple, will determine if you have to cut your underbelly to get it completely removed. otherwise you could just drop one section and try and leave the rest attached.

It isn't all that hard if you have the bolts. I used my cordless drill as well. Problems you may encounter are you may have to cut your panel if the pipe goes through it. I used a branch cutter as it was handy. Look to see if your propane line is in the way. You may have to loosen it for several feet as it doesn't move out of the way very easily. Buy some of the metallic duct tape. It is good for closing up the holes around pipes etc. I would recommend goggles as well. Keeps the dirt out of your eyes. Good luck.

If your Cougar is anything like my 276, it's a piece of cake. Mine was sectioned and came off easily. I sprouted a leak on my black water tank where the turbo washer goes in, on the road at a campground parking lot, took me about 30 minutes total to take the panel off, repair the leak, and button it back up. Good luck and happy camping.

I'd guess you checked the obvious items first. Trap, tail piece. They may be easier to get to without dropping the bottom.

I ended up slicing mine to get access.
After the repair I used tape along the new sliced seam and replaced some of the self tapping screws. There seemed to be many more than needed. My lining is held up by the frame and once it's tucked under there the self-tappers are just to keep it from sliding out. I hated slicing mine - but I really didn't see an alternative.

My fresh water tank would leak under the belly every time i would fill it,ended up taking out the tank out looking for a crack, found out it was the clamp on the plastic hose on the petcock that was loose.

My advice would be to avoid cutting it if at all possible. A dealer did that to our old camper and it was never right after that -- which really sucks when/if you do a lot of cold weather camping or want to keep the rodents out.

We got the slice sealed up ok, but the whole thing lost its integrity and started warping and causing voids elsewhere around the border.

If you need to replace the sheets. They are a material called Coroplast or Corex (brand name). It's the same material that yard signs are made of. They come in 4X8 sheets in a multitude of colors. Look up screenprint suppliers they will carry it at about 9-10 bucks a sheet.

I've cut into mine a few times to work on waste valves. There's just too many of those self-tapping screws to drop it every time I need to do some work. I did drop the front half once just to get an idea where everything was underneath.
To reseal the slices, I use Nashua Select Flashing Tape (from Home Depot). Sticks really well.
