I just doing some checking but I may be wrong. Can a big rig 40ft. diesel be driven on all the roads in Yellowstone/Grand Teton parks. We will be traveling there this summer and wanted to know if we could go from Fishing Bridge to West Yellowstone with big rig. Or would it be better to use toad.

Yes, you can drive a 40ft. big rig from Fishing Bridge to West Yellowstone, no problem (other than running into traffic jams because of the wildlife gawkers). I wouldn't want to be exploring the park in a big rig, but to get from one place to the other, not a problem.

I wouldn't want to try and see the sights.. but you can move about the park in a MH... you shouldn't have any trouble at Teton National Park... my favorite place in all the earth!! Love it! I am jealous!

Can you do it? ahhhhh, yeah, but it will be the most frustrating thing you ever do! I was ready to commit hairy cairy! for the reasons stated above. Your on vacation, don't do it to yourself. I am usually a pretty calm driver, Let Dh be the tourist. Honestly I thought I would loooooooooooose it! As kplsnder posted, the gwakers who need a Kodak moment, "gee let's put our kid on a parasite invested beast and take a picture" I am like, the wildlife can kill, get your child away from it! Sometimes there will be 20 or 30 cars stopped for one darn rabbit. Maneuvering your rig around that blockade is not fun. It's been 7 years since we drove thru there and the memory of it still puts my blood pressure over the top.LOL Do yourself a favor and park the rig and drive your toad. Enjoy! Bella

Again, driving is fine, lots of good roads. Parking, however, can be a problem. There are lots of pull-offs throughout the park, some bigger than others. But with the crowds and traffic, it will be frustrating to park a large vehicle.
For exploring the park, take the toad or even try one of those guided bus tours. We did the tour one day and did a self-tour on another day! It was a blast! (We used Buffalo Bus Tours or some such thing!)

We spent over a week in Yellowstone with our 38' motorhome and toad. We just drove the motorhome from one campsite to another, and used the toad for sight-seeing. We had no problems.

Now, if you are driving in from the east (from Cody), that might be a little hairy. (You didn't say how you were going to get to Fishing Bridge. Actually, it's possible that parking your rig AT Fishing Bridge may be your biggest challange!)

Also, there seems to ALWAYS be a section of road torn up for miles for repaving. It would not be fun to drive the big rig through that. You might find this year's plans on the Yellowstone website.

Last summer we drove from Grand Tetons through Yellowstone looping right past Fishing Bridge to Grizzly RV Park in West Yellowstone with toad attached - no trouble at all for 62 foot combined length. I suggest keeping your speed down, following distance no less than double the length of your rig, and you should be fine. We never stopped to look at anything along the way as there was too much congestion on the road. We did as others said, explored the sights with our toad.
