I'm interested in an electric jack for my TT, and I've read many of the posts here on RV.net, but I have one question. Where do you measure to determine what size tube diameter to buy? On my current jack the bottom tube that moves is 2 inches, but the upper tube that gets bolted to the frame is 2.21 inches. How do I make sure I buy one that will fit?

You measure the upper tube diameter as that is the part that has to fit thru the hole in the tongue.

Just picked up 2008 Jayco Eagle 322FKS. Also purchased a new Barker 3500 lb. power jack from Mantelli Trailer off ebay. (Great people to deal with).
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ULTRA-FAB........072QQihZ020QQitemZ300218377787QQtcZphoto Cost of jack was $177.50plus shipping. Had it in 3 days. It fits perfectly in the Jayco hole that the manual jack came out of. Simple installation. Just hook your trailer to the tow vehicle, raise manual jack, remove 3 bolts, pull old jack, drop in new jack, reinstall 3 bolts, run power wire to positive side of battery (ground is the bolts holding jack to frame) and you're good to go. If you don't need the 3500 lb. jack, get it anyway. You can never have enough power.

Since you already know you have the larger tube at 2.25" go ahead and get the larger one although both will mount and work the same. And don't skimp on the lift rating get the 3500lb the cost difference doesn't matter in the long run and you won't be burning out the smaller one or upgrading later on. I just purchased a (FleeBay) rebuilt UltraFab 3500 for $109 shipped to the door. In looking it over you couldn't ever tell it was ever a rebuilt, it works and has the same warranty as a new a new one.

I am thinking about installing an electric jack also. I am interested in the Barker brand so I called them to ask what size tube I needed. On my Rockwood Roo the tube above the tongue is 2.25" and the tube below the tongue is 2.0" and the Barker people told me I needed to go with the smaller tube size as that is the size of the hole in the tongue. I know this is exactly opposite what another poster in this thread says. I think I will pull off the manual jack and measure the hole before I buy the new jack just to be sure.

Thanks all! I knew you'd have the answer.
BTW, I looked under the tongue and the hole on mine is the same size diameter as the upper (larger) tube.
