I hope someone can help me. I plugged my pop up to the outlet on my house and when I turned the fridge on it tripped the GFI in my house. I then plugged the pop up into a non GFI in my house and it tripped the GFI inside the pop up. I then tried directly from the fridge to the NON GFI outlet and it still tripped the GFI inside the Pop up. the last thing I did was disconnect the white wire (Ground) which is clearly visible and it worked. This is the only way I can get it to work. I am aware this is not the safe recommended way. Is it a short in the fridge, a bad heating element, or a bad GFI in the popup?
Thanks

The next thing to try is to bring an extension from a house GFI out to the PUP and plug the fridge in directly. If that takes out the GFI then you most likely have an element that's found it's way to ground enough to trip the GFI.

Not sure if it is connected (pun intended)...we had an electrical prblem this past weekend upon our return from Gettysburg. We drove thru a deluge and when I went to hook up the house electric to the TT electric, I heard an electrical snap/ spark....TT fridge went dead...was in a rush to get to Moms for Sunday dinner so shut electrics down, DW and I emptied the TT fridge. Monday afternoon I checked the system out and when I turned off the fridge/GFCI breaker all my electrics worked and the house GFCI did not trip. Closed the breaker and house GFCI tripped...Hhhhmmmm....took an airhose and blew out all outside outlets including fridge outlet behind the cover then replaced TT GFCI with a new one (I keep a spare one for emergency repairs...yeah I was a Boy Scout ). Problem Solved !! TT electric and fridge have been running since Monday with no hiccups.

like SWEBBER says I have found moisture causes a lot of GFI troubles.
Did you remove the WHITE wire from 12 volt side? or 120 Volt side?
If 120 volt side that would be the NEUTRAL wire, ground would be GREEN.
But you may already know that.

This is often caused by the fridge heater failing and shorting to the chassis. It may work fine but still trip the GFCI.

As far as I know, there's only a finger sized heater connected to 120v for the fridge. Another for 12V. I guess the white wire is the ground in your wiring as it wouldn't work otherwise.....How did you know it worked? Did the heater get hot?
I keep a couple GFCIs on hand as I end up having to replace one or two a year. My money is on the PUPs GFCI being bad. ScottG just may get my money as I've no knowledge of bad fridge heaters.
PS, I just recalled there's a temperature adjustment and on/off switch in the 120v circuit. More stuff to potentially have a very small short to ground. Looks like you've got a good challenge ahead of you. Cool.

Thanks for allthe good info. I'm still working on it. I did try plugging the fridge in directly to a NON GFI with an extention cord, and it tripped inside the Pop up. I was also thinking a bad GFI in the POP UP. But why would it also trip inside the house? I also tried plugging a fan into the pop up and it works. I'll keep trying

I don't quite understand. "I did try plugging the fridge in directly to a NON GFI with an extention cord, and it tripped inside the Pop up". What is it that tripped inside the pop up if only the fridge was plugged into the extension cord?

thanks for responding. I plugged an extension cord from my house to a Non GFI outlet, and plugged it in directly to the fridge. The GFI outlet inside the camper tripped. Even though the camper had no power it still tripped. Sorry if I'm confusing anyone.
