bumpy I hope you know better now (& not because of dead grass).
no but I stopped changing my own antifreeze since the wife whined so much about it so we pay 10 times as much and have somebody else do it.

Just call me Mr. Frugal...
I plan on putting a bucket under the low point drains and TRY to recycle / Reuse it. With all of the "Green" things going on, I want to do my part.
Does anyone know if it loses its ability to protect from the cold due to evaporation of the Alcohol content?
Thanks ya'll!!!

well curiosity got the best of me so I went out and dumped a bunch of straight RV antifreeze on a corner of my lawn. I will report back on the results.

I don't think he means to be overly personal, there are some issues these days with education and mentality, especially when it comes to "poisonous chemicals"...I'll forgive him for a short rant on the subject.
On that subject, does anyone know how many folks die each year from dihydrogen monoxide poisoning, espeically young children!
Fortunately, I'm more worried about sanitizing my black tank with pressure washing and regular bleach treatments.

Yep, it does kill the grass. I found that out the first time I dewinterized our PUP many years ago.

I like your Yankee attitude! They're the original experts on being frugal.
I'm not sure whether the pink stuff even has alcohol in it. But each time you use it to displace water in your plumbing system and tanks, it gets diluted a little bit by that water, and of course the effect would be cumulative if you keep re-using it. Since the pink stuff is protective down to a very low temperature, it's OK if that protection threshold rises a few degrees. But eventually it would become ineffective due to the dilution.

Last weekend it was warm enough that I put some water into the system to check out a recent plumbing modification, added an accumulator. As I opened up the faucet, I caught some of the AF in a bucket to keep if from hitting the gray tank and tossed it out the door onto the front lawn. I went out to mow this afternoon and I can see a big brown spot exactly where I tossed it.
Long story short - don't do it.
