The first experience may upset your cat. For most mature cats ANY change upsets them.
A mild sedative can help the cat ease into a house that shakes. Most of the cats (4 IIRC) I've RV'd with basically hunkered down somewhere while on the road.

We just returned from a weekend trip and took our cat for the first time. He's around 8 years old and seemed to be okay with it. He didn't like the motion of going down the road. He loved looking out the window while we camped though. Thankfully it was only an hours drive to the CG otherwise the meowing would really have bothered me! Great experience for us and I think Oliver is okay with it...he is an inside cat anyways.

My cat travels well. At first, I was apprehensive but it has worked out fine.

Fang camped with us in our tent, then in the truck/camper, then the motorhome, and now in the truck/fiver. Last year three weeks in Yukon and she celebrated her 18th birthday on the road. Coming up this year, four weeks in Yukon. She's a great traveler on the road. Although first trip it took her three or four days to settle in ... now it's all old news. Only difference now is she doesn't demand nightly strolls on the leash through the campground. Which is a good thing for all the dogs in the campground ...

Our Opie was ready to go camping any time he saw us walking out to the TT. He learned to walk on a leash and be tied up when we were sitting by the campfire.
He did have a problem in the truck until he thought we had gone past the vets.

Tomorrow we take our first trip with our 12 year old Tigger who needs SubQ fluids for renal failure and it is our rescue bulldogs first trip too! WIsh us luck!! Tigger is a laid back kitty and during trips out to the MH while in the yard, she loves it...she is also ok in the car...let's hope she's fine with the RVing lifestyle during our trip to Asheville to Gatlinburg.

I keep my two cats in their crate while under way, and put them in the crate before I start moving slide-outs, heard horror stories about that! The first few trips, I put a Feliway atomizer in the coach, and it helped ease their anxiety. No worries, it's a pheromone the cats secrete and humans can't smell it. Works like a charm! I know PetSmart carries it..
