Hi,

Electric steps? If so, make sure you have not popped or blown a fuse associated with the step operation. Its been a while since I had a motorhome with an electric step I'll admit. Does the step run off of coach batteries? Make sure you don't have a dead battery. Could something have gotten in the way and jammed your steps midway through the closing cycle? You might have to crawl underneath the steps and inspect. Just some ideas

I take it this is on a MH.
Is the step switch set to off or on?
How about when you start the engine the step should go in if switch is in off mode. (engine power will over ride step and reatract it)

With switch in off. Step should go out when door is opened and stay out with engine off. Step should go back in when engine is started.

With switch in ON. Step will go in and out everytime door is open/ closed.

Check and see if battery is fully charged also.

We have 2 step Kwikee steps. Two times the motor has jammed. Also, the kwikee that we have has a light under the step. If it is on, the fuse isn't bad. I just drop the motor and replace the same motor. It went to working and works quite a while. Marv

It always amazes me that folks ask for help without telling us what year/model/type vehicle they're talking about.

Grab a can of WD-40 and spray all the moving parts. The step catches a lot of grime while zooming down the road.

Marvh, well, if I've got the same model and have had the same problem, it might make it a whole lot easier to comment. Meanwhile, my post also refers to all sorts of other things like refrigerators, furnaces, ac units, etc. These can vary from model to model, make to make, year to year. How about I'm having problems with my transmission. Does that tell you anything? It helps to be specific.

Kwikee has change motors and gear boxes and control units over the years that is why. They have used 3 different motors and 2 different gear boxes since 1999 till now.
