ford truck guy wrote: I have another question , what if you don't add brass air valves? Are you still able to add air to the valve as is?? What about the capture plate, I purchased the plate made to bolt on to the 5th airborne, my dealer is telling me that the plate still needs to be welded on?? My thoughts were that if I needed to get towed in an emergency, I could just un-bolt the capture plate allowing any hitch to pull the trailer

Joe, I have the new Pullrite capture plate on my new Fifth Airborne. If your Fifth Airborne is model 5AB-S500 then you can use the new capture plate that mounts with only four set screws. The reason for adding the brass fittings was that the capture plate made it almost impossible to add air to the bag. No need to weld if you have the above model.

Thinking about getting one of these. What is a capture plate? Have not seen this mentioned anywhere. Thanks.

Kountry, I would recommend that you go to their web site. You can learn a lot about the hitch and how it works. The capture plate fits on your king pin box and is necessary to make the hitch work properly.

Went to their website and saw no mention of a capture plate. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place.

Isn't the capture plate for a Pullrite slider?
Answering my own post...Yes it is.
Kountry, if you have a Reese or other manual slider (or non slider) you don't need a capture plate.

Joe -- Your check is in the mail.......
I finally hitched the 5er to the truck and tried to fill the air bag to the line. I put the max air pressure 120psi into the bag and could not see the line. I moved the bag into every hole and got the same results. Finally I tried the rear hole, and if I put the air in while un- hitched, and then hitched up, the shock would stay positioned on the line. I have a 3000# pin weight.
Does this appear normal????

My 5th AB came in last Friday, took it home Saturday. That sucker is HEAVY! 135 lbs written on the box. Will try to get it installed this week some time.
