For years I have sprayed the buggers with Westleys White Wall Cleaner and they get softened and come off very easly......I am careful to not leave it on anylonger than necessarly

I wet the windshield and i put 2 Bounce sheets on a Swiffer mop so you dont have to get a ladder and they come of very easy.
pS make sure you let them soak first, also wrap a towel around the mop spray windshield with glass cleaner and wipe off the haze

I guess anything that will stick long enough for a soak will work, huh? I use a mixture of vinegar and water sprayed on the glass for a short soak. Then clean it off - just like you did at home when your mother had you helping at Spring cleaning time or have you forgotten?

I used to have one of those plastic bug deflectors on my 93 'burb that attached on the end of the hood and it stuck up an inch or two. I think it changed the airflow and if I recall correctly I believe it worked really well... way less bugs splatting on the windshield. Actually now I'm wondering why I don't have one today?? I think that might be my next purchase this spring.

I wax my entire windshield with Nu-finish liquid wax. Works great for bugs
and rain flies off very nicely. Not as expensive as Rain-X.

In a previous life I worked for an Ambulance service. We used to make frequent runs between Daytona Beach and Gainesville to the VA and teaching hospitals. The windshield and the whole front of the unit would get covered in bugs. Upon our return we would stop at a store and buy a Coke can. Shake it up real good and spray in on the bugged area. Let it soak for about 5 minutes then spray with a hose. Got the majority of the bugs off very easily. Makes you wonder what it does to your stomach!!!

There are bugs and there are baked on love bugs. Last Friday we were hit by them on our way to Galveston. Rained Friday night and Saturday morn. Sun from Saturday at 2pm till dark. Drove thru 2 hours of rain Sunday morn with the wipers going. Still plenty of gut smears.

I used to work with a guy who work in the trucking department of a large construction company. He said they would put diesel in a pump up sprayer and spray on trucks to keep bugs from sticking. I am unwilling to try it.
