Wow ! If we think of something that works we better patent it fast. Here in Fla. during lovebug season its like carpeting on the front. I found a sponge with mesh on it works ok, (otherwise resort to fingernail, ha!). good luck & happy camping.

Agree with david_w28 about dryer sheets. I have found that used dryer softener sheets + Windex or soapy water work pretty well, and especially on the fiberglass finish. Still have to add elbow grease, though.

I think Rain X helps, but letting some kind window wash soak for 10 minutes helps along with cleaning as soon as possible. I have lived here in Florida for twenty years and have not found a great way of dealing with the love bugs. We travel north every year around the first of June and the love bugs are brutal. I have found that the interstates have fewer bugs than the secondary roads, probably just dispersed by more cars.

I have heard of people using Rejex polymer wax on the glass as well and hear it works wonders! I just bought a bottle to do my motorhome with so cant speak from experience but hopefully will get a chance to do it soon.

Take all of the above mentioned products, practices, etc. if you're gonna come South. Out in the yard this afternoon and "Uh Oh", Love Bugs. Little early this year, usually don't show up till mid May and just when you're really glad they're gone they come back even worse in Sept.

Yes the Love Bugs are early this year - we hoped to be home before they came out, but no luck. DH just washes down front with some bug cleaner he bought @ camping world. But any soap and a little muscle will work.
They say if you can drive before 9 a.m. and after 5 you can miss most of these nasty guys. We'll see if that works next Sunday when we leave.

Not unusual for us to get lots of bugs heading up I-5. But when we went to the FMCA rally in Redmond, OR, the bugs were so thick I thought I would need a belt sander to get them off. There was a booth for Diamon-Shield. It is supposed to protect the glass from road debris like rocks. Sort of expensive, but it seemed like a plan. First they cleaned the windows...getting off my fantastic insect collection. Then a crew treated the window. No one has flipped up any rocks, so I can't talk for the safety issue, but it sure makes the windshield easy to clean. Might have been a little overkill for the bug problem (pardon the pun) but it worked for me. Happy Trails.

kalynzoo....I went to their website and didn't see anything about doing a windshield.
Just paint protection.
How much did it cost and is there a name for it?

RainX helps, but there is nothing that takes the real work out of removing the bugs. In Florida the Love Bugs kill us twice per year; I try not being on the road during their time. Although, RainX applied frequently really helps.

Haven't been through the Love Bugs lately, but DH swears by the used dryer fabric softener sheets (like Bounce) for cleaning bugs off the windshield & front of the MH. Of course, that's not the solution for avoiding them sticking in the first place!
