There is a big difference in a class B and a conversion van, the latter has much more room for carrying your tent and other camping stuff.... We have owned three vans over the years since 1986. Two were Ford E150's the last was an E350. Two were of the conversion type and the last one a regular passenger van (extended) that we take out various rows of seating depending how many we need to carry while on a road/camping trip.. With all except the two front bucket seats taken out we can place two cots in back and use the van as a place to sleep if we want and still have more than enough room for the other stuff we 'need'.... We still carry a tent and use it if we plan to camp for more than a night or so... I considered a conversion van for the last one as well but the newer ones are so 'pimped' I gave up on that. . I had no use for two TV's and separate sound systems for each passenger so I went with the standard van. I might add it was much cheaper that way as well.. We have also found the regular seating provided by Ford to be very comfortable.

Before I bought my current rig, I had a Chevy conversion van and a truck tent. The tent had a 'sleeve' that fit over the rear door of the van. This gave me the full use of the van with another full room for space and a screened in room in addition. Wasn't exactly tent camping but gave me plenty of space when it rained.

I've taken my Ford E-150 on trips. Also took an Olds silhouette minivan out for a month long camping trip. It's nice to have the space. We've slept in the back or tented depending on the situation.
With gas prices now, though, I've moved to a Prius with a car top carrier. Won't fit as much, and can't sleep in it, but for an 8000 mile trip this summer, I'll save $900-1000 on gas. It also forces me to take only what's necessary, which usually translates into more time with the outdoors instead of messing with the luxuries.
Cheers

The sleeve sounds interesting. My daughter is taking it to a concert so they can have something solid to get in besides a tent that can be locked.
