The RPMs on the tach jump, my ABS and ATC lights flash and the water and tranny temp read low. Except for the gauges this happens intermittently
Allison and Cummins wont work on the chassis electrical and the dealer
had a guy look at that was dumber than I am. Anyone had this problem?

Had a similar problem on my Silverado P/U with gauges flipping and speedo jumping around. After a week in the shop they found a small ground wire on the engine side of the firewall almost in front of the steering wheel only up higher that was loose. Tightened this and all was ok.

have a 1996 freightliner fld semi done the same thing about 2 years after i bought it and it also was a bad ground wire. I have also seen this on farm equipment and it was a snap together connector that was not fully pushed together hope this helps you

Depends on your chassis and how the wiring is set up. I had a 2004 Freightliner under a 2005 Diesel bounder that looked like a pinball machine coming out of Dawson City, Yukon a few years ago. Ran fine but not even the speedometer read correctly. It turned out to be 2 bad pins in the MMDC system. Two hours with a super Freightliner dealer in Red Deer, Alberta and I was on the road.

Finding the right guy is more important than finding the bad part. I suggest a call to your chassis manufacturer as a first stop.
