We are leaving Verde Valley with a toad and a 40ft diesel pusher. I am not really keen on driving through tight mountain passes, was thinking about taking US89 to Rt 59 up to I-15 and then onto Helena, MT.

How is US89? Will my wife pee her pants with mountains and no shoulders and sheer dropoffs?

If you can please answer quick, we will be arriving in Verde Valley tomorrow and only staying there 2-3 days.

89 to 50 to I-15 is a good route to take. I'm not sure how 89 is north from Salina UT.
I, myself, would like to know what it's like up to Spanish Fork or Provo. Hope someone will say.

re 89.
89A out of Page has a pretty good climb, but I don't recall a twisty road..it's been a few years.

We've taken 89 from Flagstaff, Alt 89 (went to S Rim) and 59, all good roads. We've also taken 89 all the way up to 50 and then to I15, good road. Have not taken 89 from Page to Kanab but read that it is also OK.

89 via Page is the best way to go. 89 is a well maintained road with wide shoulders and In general is a pretty flat drive following river valleys. Is not mountain driving at all.

First chance you have buy Mountain Directory West for information on Route 89 and other highways in 11 western states. Provides info on slope and curves and the location of Runaway Truck Ramps.

Go here and click on the Arizona map and you'll understand why most of won't attempt to post the rest of information for 89 in Utah. Just to much detail. And this guide doesn't address some of your questions like drop offs.

Hi,
89 from Page to Kanab is very good road, 2 lane but an easy drive. Once we are north of Kanab we almost always use #20 to get across to I-15. 15 Is always quicker than 89 and about the same mileage.
89 gets a few more curves as you go north

89 from Salina to Spanish Fork is an easy drive...when it hooks up to 6 it's a four laner that drops down into Spanish Fork. As you approach 6 you can still see the remnants of the town of Thistle, buried in a landslide /flood in 1983.
