I have a 07 Yukon 4x4 5.3L (3.73). I am contemplating buying a 23' Fun Finder (empty wt 4000lbs) and pulling it from San Antonio, TX to California and then up to Alaska(military relocation). We're talking about 5,000 miles here, roughly. Would I be crazy for doing this? Is there anybody out there that is in a similar situation as far as my tow vehicle and (possible) trailer are concerned? If so, please advise...

We tow with a Yukon XL, total weight for TV & TT and everything else is 14,000lbs. Our trailer is 5,400 dry and the TV loaded with passengers (7 people) gear and gas is 7,000lbs. That left us 1,600 for TT fluids and gear. I try to keep that to 600lbs with 1,000lbs for safety.

I assume your capacities are similar so the 4,000lbs would be a breeze. Check your owners's Manuel and go from there.

I tow with an 01 Tahoe, same capabilities as your Yukon. I just got a 26 foot KZ Spree that is about 5000 empty. I've towed it only about 200 miles so far but 70 miles of that was in heavy wind. I'm happy with how it towed, but I know that I wouldn't want to go any heavier or longer. You should be fine with your setup, based on my experience.

I had a 2000 Yukon and towed a 266FBS Jayco at 5800# empty for 10,000 miles with the same engine and all. It was a great towing rig and I towed in 98 degree heat for miles on end going to S Dakota in the summer and up the black hills. You can get in anywhere with the Yukon what fun !!!!

Yes... you're definately crazy for moving from the warm south to the COLD north.
towing won't be a problem though...
