I'm looking at buying a used Born Free 24' with overcab bed, OR a used Lazy Daze 23'rear lounge with overcab bed.
Does anyone have opinions of what would be the pros and cons of one versus the other?

These are both very nice motorhomes and I don't think you can go wrong with either. I've looked at both and am very impressed. The BF is narrower than the LD (and the width of the LD changed in--I think--2003), which I consider an asset, but you might not. Also, the BF is a bit more luxuriously furnished and more contemporary than the LD, which has a more retro appeal. The LD is probably the better value, as they are sold factory-direct only and at a lower price. Both hold their values well.

If you need specs for these models, I probably have them, because I've got a lot of brochures. Just PM me with the years of these models and I'll get them for you.

If you haven't already, go to andybaird.com and read his description of Gertie, his 23' LD. He gives a very interesting account of the pros and cons of that unit and then read about his larger LD, Skylark.

The following is a link to the born free forum.I have a 1998 26'RSB model which I bought used several yrs ago.Its aging well.I had looked at lazy Daze but couldn't find what I wanted at the time.In either case be prepared to travel to find one.I went down to Ga for mine. You will be satisfied with either. Yahoo groups has a very good lazy daze site with a used list as does born frees' site.Good luck.

I had a 2001 26' Bornfree rear side bed. Bought new and sold 2 years ago. Excellent qualtity and great service. Also great resale value, I actually sold the first day I listed it and had people waiting. I traded down for class B (Roadtrek on the Sprinter), big mistake, just not right for us. I am going back to the Bornfree 22' rear door cab over.

Since very few of us have owned both, it's difficult to do a comparison for you. Do you have any specific concerns or issues? There's an extremely active Yahoo discussion group for anyone interested in Lazy Daze. Many proud owners have posted photos.

We actually flew to California to check out the Lazydaze because we liked the layout. But we didn't like the wet bath or the retro decorating. It looks outdated even if you buy it new. We love our 24 RB BF.

Thanks Joanne, I should have said that I currently have a 26MB Lazy Daze which is up for sale. The reason is that I want a diffent model, the LD 23 rear twin, or else the Born Free 24. Just need a new adventure.
Thanks also to current BF owners, I know I like BF a lot.
I've seen the LD 23 and loved it, also I've seen the BF and love it.
Can I have both?
No, I guess I can only have one at a time, darn!

I own a Born Free, love it. Buy a new one right now and get a FREE trip to Alaska. Not to bad a deal.

Wet bath? All LD's have separate shower, toilet, and sink, except for the rather cozy bath in the rear lounge and rear twin/king (the very model that parisroady is considering), in which the sink is in the shower. But there are no LD's with a wet bath in the sense that the toilet gets wet when you shower.
