How much is the difference between what the campground costs verses having to pay for a hotel? How about having to eat out every meal? and I find that the campground features lots of things to do for free.

We just returned from a 3 night weekend. We are not planning on not camping as often but have decided not to make the 5 hour trip(s) that we normally put in each summer.
Sorry but I would rather spend a few more nights camping then watching it blow out the back of the TV in fuel.

I'm glad we went to Yellowstone last summer. The trip would be out of the question this year. The plan is for shorter trips and trying to improve towing mileage. It is easy to blame Bush, but the Congress is controlled by democrats. Go figure!

I get about 8 MPG also and I figure that at $3.80 to $4.00 per gallon if I am going about 200 miles there it will cost about $200.00 in gas for a round trip. That is easy math.

We are leaving from Vegas up to Yellowstone, Tetons and Flaming Gorge early June. We will then come back to Vegas for 2 weeks then head out to Tahoe, Reno and all thru Oregon. Yes we will spend alot on diesel but the way we look at it is, we are full-time and we will spend it somewhere. Might as well spend it on something we truly love. Life is to short not to enjoy it. This is not a rehersal..this is it..Enjoy life while you can to the fullest, while you still have life.
Travel safe where ever you roam.

probably will not go anywhere because of the high cost of fuel here its $3.70 and its going up more, to much for me at 6 to 7 mpg. we will camp in the driveway instead or only go a few miles close by.

The fulltimers seem to be doing ok, as their living costs are so much cheaper.

Just returned from a 600 mile round trip. Gas $200.00 The price jumped ten cents a gallon before our return trip.... gone for 5 days!

I'll whine and moan about the prices, but I'll pay them. As someone else said, my "need" to take these trips and spend time in the Great Outdoors with our kids outweighs the high cost of fuel. The experiences we share as a family are worth it. We can cut back in other ways.
