We're planning a 2000 mile round trip to the Washington/Oregon in July. We know that it will cost more in fuel, however we're prepared for it. We're looking forward to this trip just as much as the kids.
Happy RVing!

A fellow camper has a slogan on the back window of his truck that echoes our feelings at this point - "Fuel prices aren't everything."
Not only are we not canceling, we're going west, then back southeast. We've been workkamping for two years now. Time to hit the road and see America before we're too old to do it. We're leaving northern Illinois, headed for Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park in late September. After a long weekend camping with my brother and his family, we're heading to Knoxville, TN where we have a full-time temporary job from Oct thru the second week in January. Then we're headed to Florida to park our butts for the rest of the winter. In the spring we'll probably flip a coin. As long as it's somewhere new, I'll be happy.

No we will still be RVing. TT, home, cars, TV all paid for. If so many have stoped why can I not get my favorite camping spot. Campgrounds seem to stay booked up all the time.

Gas prices aren't a factor for our traveling, though we don't like being gouged by the oil companies. We have begun to stay longer and have found we prefer the longer stays. For one, if we stay a month we get a great price from the CG and we have found we are now enjoying many things we have missed in the past. A month stay seems to be just about right to find all the sites in that area and enjoy the sites and people. We've also found the CG personel treat us a lot better knowing we're spending a month or so with them at a time, even at the reduced rate! One campground in East Texas went so far as to invite all the long term, (month plus), out to the owners mini ranch for a wonderful fish fry and horse back riding. Others make sure we have really great spots in the CG for our month stay and usually check on us periodically to see if we are doing OK. Slowing down seems to have a lot of advantages other than just saving gas.
Heading to Portland, TX to Sea Breeze Resort in June for at least a month. Called and told them we wanted a premier site close to the ocean and she shuffled around some folks and gave us, what seems to be, a great place! Also told us not to worry about what time we check in that when ever we got there would be just fine. Normal fee is $30.00 per night. For the thirty one days we reserved for is only $325.00 plus elect. Told her we were traveling with our two dogs and granddaughter. She said no problem what so ever and no extra charge.

The weekend trips are too costly since it is just about 100.00 to take the camper and boat to the lake for just 1 night. It's only about an hour and half but still that is pretty pricey to me.
We're getting our beach trip paid for since we are combing work with fun so that doesnt' really count.

Right now with fuel running $4+ a gallon takes a little planning. We have not changed our plans for this summer. In fact we are heading to Yellowstone in two weeks.
Within five years our house will be paid for, all our cars will be paid for and our LA son 'should' be out of college by then.
Then I can retire without concerns of fuel prices even if they hit the $8/9 mark.

For Goodness Sakes, GO! It's only money and you can't take it with you. Don't be a "Could'a, Would'a, Should'a". Whos's worth it more than you?

Vacationing is way too important to cancel simply because of fuel prices. We make concessions in other areas to help offset the additional travel costs. We cook more while camping rather than eating out and we spend longer times in the CG. We also do allot of camping closer to home and only take a couple of longer trips each year. Plan, plan, plan…calculate what you’re willing to spend on fuel, figure out the travel radius to stay within the desired fuel budget and then GO!
