No,there is no way that I am gonna be terrorized off the road by these high fuel prices. I didn't buy my rig to sit at home and look at it parked in the backyard..Killing people isn't the only way we're being terrorized, they're also doing it by making the fuel prices such that everything is going up and we won't be able to pay for things soon,SOOoo,I'm doing what I can do now and mebbee in a few years I'll have to park the toys..

We're taking a 10,000 trip across the USA in our motorhome. Yes, we thought about either curtailing or cancelling the whole trip until a good friend of ours said, "Please take the trip..........Jim & I had always planned on taking our RV to Alaska but kept putting it off. Jim passed away last Oct. and we lost our chance. The gas will get higher next year, and you never know what tomorrow will bring regarding health, etc".
We are taking our friends' advise and hitting the road the end of this week. This will be our one and only big RV trip ever and we are so looking forward to it.
My plan is to travel this summer because the prices might be double next year. I plan on going now while I can still somewhat afford it. But I won't be going as far from home as I had once planned. I'll take shorter trips than before.
We are taking our one long trip of the summer in 16 days. Can't see fuel will do anything but go up so running our long trip now rather than Labor Day when we usually head out. 2000 miles round trip to Branson, MO. estimated on the fuel calculator to be about 875 dollars. That's the edge of what I wanna pay. So rest of the summer will be within a hundred miles or so of home. Like the guy in Glenwood Springs, just lucky we are within 50 miles of the San Juan Mtns. in CO.

We decided on a seasonal site this year in Gettysburg PA because of the crazy gas prices. Its only about 20 miles from the house and we take the Honda civic instead of the F350 diesel. We haven't missed a weekend yet and it seems to be working pretty good so far. We were planning trips to Myrtle Beach and Bar Harbor until I figured the savings on gas money alone almost pays for the seasonal site plus we get to spend more time camping this way.
Have camper will travel. Our Colorado trip is on and anxiously awaited! My camper costs me more sitting still in the garage than the gas it takes to pull it. Funny how you can afford the expensive rig, but not the cheap gas to move it??? Think about it people. It ain't getting any cheaper.
My parents actually were talking about flying out to Colorado and tenting it, which would mean us picking them up after driving out. Until they looked at airfare. $400 Milwaukee to Denver roundtrip, so $800 for the two of them. $800 gets a lot of gas, even at 10mpg with their V10. 1000 miles @ 10 mpg @ $4.00 = $400 one way. What would they have saved? Time. What would it cost? The luxury of being in their own bed with their own amenities, and me from having to hear about their night(s) on the flat air mattress or in a wet tent.

You know, sometimes I wonder even about that. I have to take a trip down to two locations in Texas in June of each year (business trip). So by the time I do the airport two-step and wait in lines to get/return rental cars, I realized that I could drive half-way to the destinations. Duh. So I started just renting a car for the whole trip and saving money, time and stress in the end. Since flight fares have increased, this year's trip with a rental car, even with today's gas prices, will still be cheaper than flying.

Agreed, but for many of us who tow, the vehicles we drive every day are the same vehicles we use for RVing. I don't mind shelling out extra money to be able to take a trip, but the extra day-to-day fuel costs at 10 MPG are really starting to hurt. I know I could buy an additional, gas-friendly vehicle, but by the time I buy it, register it, insure it, and find a place to put it, it wouldn't be worth it.
For us (and I'm sure we're not alone), fuel costs are making the total cost of RVing very difficult to justify. We love camping, but we're not willing to sacrifice every other luxury in our lives to be able to do it. Unfortunately, that point is rapidly approaching for us. I guess we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed.

Yeah, my hubby uses the Ram to commute to work a few days a week. At 10mpg, that's a pretty expensive commuter vehicle (not to mention, bad for the environment). I have a smaller car, but I use it more than my hubby uses the truck. What to do...?

I am still planning on Fort Wilderness from PA. Last time I looked $1000 for Airfare for the 4 of us. As Gas prices go up, so will Airline tickets. Guess I'm biting the bullet!
