It is more common now days that once people get to the camp ground parents forget they have kids and think they can forget about them and let them rip and tear--mine would have been pulled from the tree long before they became a nusiance cause I kept and eye on mine and if it was 3 ft outside of someones camper that would have been just ignorant to let them carry on outside someones window but then I was raised to remember there are others in this world and I try not to bother people before it becomes a problem--thats the way I want to be treated too--these parents are the same ones in the grocery isle that stop their cart side ways so you cant get past and then act like they dont see you or gas their cars and go into the store to pay and stop to talk to old friends for an hour while there is a line at the pumps--you see what I mean they are the only ones on the planet and no one else matters --but heaven forbid you would ask them to take care of their kid or hold them up in line. Sorry just a pet peeve of mine.

Sounds like you were in Doheney. Nice place... 30 years ago...
I won't comment on any other subject in this thread other than to say thank you to all you CG folks. Keeps the boondocking spots free for folks like me.
I do want to comment on the migraines a few of you say you suffer from. PLEASE go get checked out by your physicians. Make them run all the tests; MRI's CT's Ultrasounds. Migraines can be a symptom of something severe. Tumors, clogged arteries, plugged sinus cavities. Again, go get checked out. And don't take no for an answer. You definitely want to be around to camp with your kids and their kids for many years to come.

If you don't like "Plan-B" you could initiate "Plan-C".
If you have a diesel, fire it up and let it idle all day. Provided your exhaust points in the disturbing camper's direction. And/or, fire up your generators.
When he complains that you're smoking him out, or making too much noise, tell him, "well now you know how I feel." Tell him to keep his kids on his side of the camp spot and to please keep the noise down within reason.
There are many people that don't give a hoot about how much noise or disturbance they create with their neighbors (you).
Good Luck.

I'll put my noisy kids up against your 4.50/gal diesel motor anyday of the week... my kids run all day on $.30 worth of sugar. Couple of 'smores and a popsicle and they can go all night long.

If it had been me I would most likely have waited to "oh-dark-thirty" in the morning and crept next to window of the worst offender. Then I would have taken my portable "fog horn" and let loose a long loud blast right at their bedroom window.
Darn, must have been some of those hooligans that just don't mind!

Or try Plan D and get yourself a German Shepherd that doesn't like kids.

Kids are kids, and do make a lot of noise sometimes. If there is not a need to keep the noise down, then there is not a problem. But when a camping neighbor makes a request to keep the noise down, the request should be honored.

The kids are generall y an extension of the parents attitude and behavior. I was raised to consider my actions and how they would effect others. Peole now are jsut interested in themselves and right now...never mind later, unless it is another case of beer.
I have been know to stop the kids and tell them that we are tired of the noise and for them to go bother their parents for a while. I get some dirty looks from the parents, but none have had the gumption to say a word to me.

"rather than the space between theirs and mine" so from this I would say the kids were not on the OPs site. Why should the kids be quite and not have their fun? If your wife was sick then you should have left. If you could not leave then maybe get her a hotel room. They were not your kids so why should they be quite because your wife was sick? Maybe your neighbors should have asked you to leave so their kids could enjoy their weekend. After all you wanted them to not have their fun. Just to take the other side here, flame on.
