Wow!.....
I had the nerve (ignorance) to ask TURBO DIESEL DUDE if he had a Diesel in another message in forum.... It's obvious reading his comments in this message.
Sorry.....

I too am the proud owner of a new Ram 3500 with all the goodies you have except 4wd, something not needed. Additionally, I pull a small R-Vision TS19RDB, around 4K if I fully load. Expect maybe 11 MPG pulling, get up to 20.5 Hy-way (on board computer) and must confirm using "consummed" Vs. milage.
Hopefully will make trip west soon. can not wait.
Just completed a 7600 mile trip around country with my new Dodge 3500 diesel (6.7L) and was happy to see I got 11.7 MPG pulling a 4K small 19Ft. trailer.
Same trailer and approximate distance with 2004 Dodge 1500 with 5.7L Hemi, got 9.5 MPG....
The milage numbers are based on measured fuel useage (Total for trips).
Wanted diesel so much I absolutely forgot Diesel fuel was climbing in cost.... surprised when had to pay around 20% more for fuel.
Better milage ALMOST makes up for fuel cost difference! With improved performance, power for pulling, and increased durability of engine, purchase of DIESEL looks better and better!
It's $5.02 power gallon up here, but I LOVE pulling the trailer with the 2008 Dodge. Sold my 2001 Power Stroke to get this one and I'm a very happy guy for doing so.

I'm the proud owner of the 07 Megacab 3500 DRW 6spd auto 6.7L EB and I modified the short bed to a long bed. Love the truck hated to tow with the short bed. well worth the cost and the dealer will honor the warranty. When I got mine, back in January, the ECM software was brought up to date before I took delivery. it did hiccup and the dealer recieved a newer update and I havn't had a problem since.
The towing power and ride is wonderful got 11.5mpg towing 18mpg empty.
Enjoy yours

Where does the sound originate from?...the horn or is there already an alarm thats installed but not active until they update the ECM? That would be annoying.........
Looking forward to towing with it. Can't wait to see how well the exhaust brake works going down a grade with the trailer. Part of the deal was the dealer is paying to have the Line-X spray on bed liner installed, so hopefully they do it this week befoe my trip.
Also what is this regen thing? I read about it in the owners novel. Is it something the engine computer does by itself when it gets full or do you have to do it somehow by driving it a certain wayor certain distance?
The back up alarm they speak of only sounds when the door is open and you're trying to back up. Its actually the horn honking.
I don't know if my truck has it,because I don't need my door open to back my truck up.
The exhaust brake works great, you'll love it.
It happens if you open the door too early, like you put it in park, open the door but maybe the ECM doesn't recognize it is in park yet, so you get a flash of a horn. After my last oil change, the service writer pulled the truck up for me, hopped out, it did the same exact thing. I said "You see what you guys did man". Actually, all you have to do is put it in park and wait 1 second, it wont do it anymore.
Almost…it is an “Out of Park Alarm System” that is to inform the driver that they did not turn off the truck before exiting the vehicle. It is only on CTD 2500/3500 Dodge Ram trucks. I did not know that it went past 05 trucks however.
Seams some HD Rams 2004-2005 with the CTD and 48RE tranny could jump out of park and into reverse if the truck was left running and the Parking Brake was not applied. I have asked my dealer not to add the update to my truck and every December I get a letter from Doge telling me to take my truck in for a “safety recall”. If you us your parking brake like you should do anyway this would not be a problem IMO.

Congrats on the new Dodge! Turbo Diesel Registar is the best bullentin board for serious CTD owners. It costs $35/yesr which includes a high quality quarterly magazine. It's the only time I've ever paid for a bullentin board, but it is well worth it.
Thanks John...... can one get a look/see at board before commitment?
Another subject:
What kind of MPG difference (if any) are seen with and/or without "Air Brake" system on? Seems to me that it will consume energy to develop air for breaking. Is it worth (change in MPG) considering?
Have a great time with the new truck. I guess you are going to skip on the advice to put 500 miles on the truck before pulling a trailer with it?
Your trailer is light enough that it will not require full throttle to get everyplace, so the 500 mile rule will be OK to ignore with that truck. Besides motorhomes with the same engine are run full throttle when delivered by the factory to the dealer.
Fred.
And who are you to tell him to ignore the 500 mile advice of not towing. If you had a clue, it's not about the engine, but the differential gears. Don't know=bad advice.
