I repacked my wheel bearings over the weekend.

When I puled it down the seals were shot. I went to a large national parts chain the they had not a clue what they crossed over to and recommended Camping World or another local RV pars house.

I decided to go to Napa. I went in and told him I had a 1969 Excel travel trailer and another gentleman came over and looked at the seal and said "that's a 17146, we have 8 on the shelf".

When the other parts guy came back he smiled and said the other guy was wrong, they had 9 on the shelf.

Napa has always been a great source for grease seals, if you have one and can't find it give Napa a try.

These car ramps work real good for me.

I have had good luck with NAPA on seals for my boat as well as bearing for boat and utility trailers. Somethings I like about Napa and other things are just okay.

Glad to hear you had a productive weekend and were able to get wheel bearing job completed. Happy Trails

First choice would be a specialty bearing supply house (like these and more). Second choice is a quality auto parts store like NAPA that sells to independent repair shops.

I'm free of prostate cancer for 5 years now.
All men over age 50 should get an annual PSA blood test. Mine had a low reading, but the yearly jump was significant. The biopsy showed cancer just entering the aggressive stage. Dr. Hackenslash removed it.

Yep, nothin' like your local NAPA dealer.

On edit: Is the Execel name on your hub caps stamped into the cap? If so you could spray paint them then after it dries take some very fine brass wool and rub off the paint on the high side of the cap. This will also shine the old caps to look like new.

When Dexter first came out with the new seals for EZLube, the ones with a double lip plus a spring retainer, I tried to get some at NAPA. They had the Dexter part number cross-referenced but the seal that came out was NOT right seal... I don't know if that has changed.

NAPA had my seals also, but I won't buy from them again. CarQuest only had 2 seals so I stopped at NAPA for two more and they were over TWICE the price. If they were better quality I maybe could see the difference, but that was not the case.

My local autostore guy knew them by sight also. I paid close to $50 for those four seals.
From now on it is either etrailer.com or etrailerpart.com
12 seals for about $25. Same stuff.

Yep it's stamped. I hope they can be re-chromed because they show their age pretty bad.

I am going to take your advise and git it a try.

I was kind of surprised I didn't get a better price, $6.77 each.

Napa buys engine components from the company I work for, I am personal friends with their #1 outside sale rep and I am personal friends with their two larges accounts. I guess that's what I get for going in on a Sunday.

I hsd nothing but good things to say about Napa... They might of cost a smidge more but they had them in stock and I didn't have to wait for them...
