We are planning a trip to the Columbus Zoo, which is on the northwest side of town. Looking for a campground or RV park that might be 30 minutes away.

Staying in a 31' travel trailer for 2-3 nights. No kids but one small dog. Electic only such as a State Park would be just fine. Full hookups would be great as long as we weren't packed into some parking lot style place.

Try Alum Creek or Delaware state park. There is also a place called Cross Creek which is across the road from Alum Creek. A little tighter though at Cross Creek. Alum Creek will be closer for the trip though.

From Alum Creek, turn left onto Old State. And then turn right on Polaris Parkway and keep driving until you hit the zoo. About 30 minutes depending on traffic.

Cross Creek is a very nice campground. Buckeye Lake KOA is very nice but further to the Zoo.

Alum Creek SP or Delaware SP are great parks. Alum Creek is closer to the zoo. but Delaware SP is not that much further. Cross Creek is nice but is alomost totally surrounded by houses. The SP's both have lakes, beaches, and lots of places to explore. If you end up at Alum Creek or Cross Creek - you should try the Cheshire Market for pizza and subs. It is a combination carry-out, bait store, and pizza restaurant (just don't order the anchovies!). I live in the area - send me a PM if you would like more information on where to go and what to do!

Cross Creek gets my vote. We've stayed there many times. Clean and very well run. Sites are spacious and the zoo is nearby.

Cross Creek is very nice and has full hookups unlike Alum Creek SP. That is you best bet since Buckeye Lake is almost an hour from the Zoo.
