Yeah I do, not that I "know" them; but know of them -

Your local CONGRESSMAN!!!

Everyone is a millionaire. Many. of course, were not when they ran the first time.

Hmmmmmmm Hillery is over $20 million in debt trying to get a job that pays a small small fraction of that amount, wonder why? Be kind of if you or I pay
$100,000 plus to be a greeter at Wal-Mart!!!!

Have you read the book "The Millionaire Next Door" That's the way most of them live, very average normal lives, never buying new, always used, never paid $100.00 for a pair of shoes, never owned a new car, had an average job entire life. It's pretty interesting.

Well, I'm happy, (sort of) to know I live like a millionaire!....I'll have the top down in my 9 year old economy convertable on the way home from work tonight!.......ahhh...da life......

My point being, unless there is a sudden change, RVing as we now know it will soon be for only the wealthy.

I just saw this thread (usually I keep to the Class B Forum)and it got my attention.
OK. I've got a mil in cash, above and beyond equities and I don't owe a penny... but I don't feel rich or take things for granted. I'm in my 50's and still working.

More to the point above: What sudden change? A drop in fuel costs?
The cost of mobility is only a modest part of the equation. Recent interviews on TV (NBC Nightly News, I think) indicate RVers will continue to use the products they already paid for.
Don't worry, RVing will remain in the hands of outdoor loving folks for years to come.
The truly wealthy never RV anyways, IMHO.

33 years ago, a client of mine in New Roads, LA. showed me his monthly royalty checks from two major oil companies from the natural gas find on his wife's land. The two checks collected, totalled almost $40K for one or two month's royalty payments. He was a partner in the leading dry goods store in New Roads. He kept a black and white framed photograph of the natural gas rig on the wall of the break room dubbed, "My Only Hope." I always thought a cute name for a gas well. Other than buying a new Lincoln Town Car, I don't think much changed in his life, other than he and his wife's bank account balance. He already lived directly on False River.

I have a sweet tender nature, however I enjoy sharing my thoughts and opinions.

I have followed this thread with interest and I am not sure I understand it. Being a millionaire today is not particularly note worthy in the general scheme of things. In many cases entire communities of people have that kind of money. Before it becomes "serious" money in today's world you need to get to double digit millions and really serious money starts at triple digits.

It seems to be a common theme with many posters to tell stories about how a millionaire they know are just "common" folk. Why would they be anything different? A million or two today allows for a lot of nice things and a little security. It also can be spent quickly as a friend of mine recently found when his spouse became seriously ill and ran up a 1.5 million dollar bill. His insurance had a 1 million dollar limit.

I know and have dozens of close friends who are worth a million or substantially more. They are common folks at the end of the day and usually do all the same things everyone else does. Sometimes a little easier with less worry but they still all have their own problems. None that I know particularly feel they are a breed apart nor anything special. Usually simply people who worked hard and paid attention to what they were trying to accomplish.

WOW. Lots of millionaires on here. Great!

Be a lot more if it were not for the Federal Reserve Act of 1907 followed by the
IRS Act of 1913.

God bless our government!! Two examples of how DC looks out for us!

My grandfather was. And if you saw or met him you'd likely think just the opposite. The all mighty dollar was king to him, and he loathed to part with it. He liked having money just to have money, not for what he could buy with it. For him it meant power.

He passed away almost 20 years ago, so he was a "millionaire" when it meant something.

Yep, my father in law. Old man is worth about 2.5 or so. No one really knows. Country as a chicken. Almost went bankrupt farming in the 70's. Made some good land investments after that.

He is 75 and has had 2 heart attacks. Smokes 2 packs a day. Doesn't spend a dime. We've been on his butt about coming off some of that money and having a good time in his old age. So, in the past year, he's bought a new F250, new tractors, built a farm house, new boat, new ATVs, new Kawasaki Mules, etc. Get the idea?

One of his grandson got married a month ago. Gave the newlyweds $20 as a wedding present. Old man is so tight, he will take it all to his grave!

I have known a few. What I learned from them is that wealth is something very different than money. Observed more recently that they are all producing about an equal amount of daisies after expenses these days.
