Does anybody know of a GPS which are better then the ones which I see they sell for cars which would keep you off roads which don't allow campers or trucks and know height's for bridges and underpasses

Crawford - we just purchased a Mio for a couple of reasons - 1) You can plug in coordinates - a must when you like to boondock and want to go back to the same spot or share this informaiton with your friends, good friends. And 2) You can select that you are a truck so it takes you on a truck friendly route. So far, so good with this one. It also has a built in camera that when used also saves the coordinates of the location you jus snapped a picture of. Neat.

I've been using my GPS for about 5 years and I love it! I'd be lost with out it! Anyway, I've found that it is a good idea to look at a paper/computer map and become familar with the area before I travel there. I can set my GPS for truck routes but every now and then she takes a route that I wouldn't select. That's when looking at the map ahead of time is a good idea. Heights of bridges? I haven't seen that feature in a GPS.

Don't throw away that paper map, NEVER rely totally on a GPS!

I am a retired truck driver and used my GPS quite a lot driving all across the country and although they are very helpful when driving an RV it's a good idea to get a Motor Carrier Atlas which truck drivers use.
It shows truck routes and gives you height limitations to check against your planned route-saves a lot of possible problems

I have the Co-Pilot Navigator on my laptop which talks and can be configured for RV's -got a great deal on it when I bought the Dell laptop,although not installed ,came sealed in factory blister package with receiver module that sits on dashboard-like all the other GPS--- except I have it on a 17" screen!,If you are a Good Sams Club member you can do online trip route's and specify height requirements and road grade warnings and also link to each states D.O.T web page

I don't know a thing about this company but there was an article in our local paper a week or so ago about them and the truckers using same. If it works as advertised then it seem to have all the components you are asking about.
