1.Make sure your rig is running as good as it can and keep your tires at max psi.
2.Keep your speed down to 55-60mph because you don't have an overdrive tranny
3.As others have said, google within 100 miles from home for campgrounds and places you can boondock camp for little to nothing.
4.If you want to be rving for extended periods of time, stay in each campground longer and move less distance when you do move.
5. Enjoy what rving you are able to do.

Here's a link to the search page at RVPark Reviews. It lists 44 campgounds within 50 miles of Lebanon, PA and 150 within 100 miles.

You could try Lake In The Woods,Hickory Hill,and Beacon Hill all with in the Lancaster aera,works for us.

28.571 X 3.50 = $100.00
Your math threw me. A 200 mile trip will cost you $100.00 at 7 MPG and $3.50 per gallon.
I was ready to get rid of mine!

younchem I guess you'll just go there and stay? I'm gonna stay at home and save up the other $100 so's I can get there and back.

I just watched 2hrs of video of a offshore boating club run from Miami to Key West,the smaller boats were running dual 535hp and the larger tri-power 1150hp and no one was even talking about fuel cost---just the great fun and adventure and good drinks and food.Anyone who wants to pick on fuel waste should take on the cruise to no-where ship lines (Disney, etc)extreme fuel use, not some guy or gal with a older RV.If you really want to shake things up a little, ask your favorite politician why we ignore the Russian oil industry ,who by all reports are sitting on oil reserves that will power the world many generations past OPEC!Watched a program 2 days ago listing gas cost world wide-China was $2.19 a gal,India was the same as here ,Europe was $6.80-8.10.If you remember years ago when we were told China would use up the fuel supply because of growth in their auto industry!The low price in China is because of their "Domestic" oil production-in other words we given statistics that were manipulated to feed a profit driven industry.I find nothing wrong with profits in a free market economy and will be the last to complain-just remember who feeds you the info and use it to your advantage.Fill that Shasta up -hit the road -maybe we will meet somewhere and have a cup of coffee and share a few minutes?

Sorry for the confusion, I was figuring a 200 mile each way trip or 400 miles round trip. And yes for a 200 mile round trip $100 in fuel is correct. I just figured that within 200 miles of home for most people there would be dozens of places to camp and that as annoying as the gas price situation is, you can still do alot of camping for an additon $200 over the summer.
I don't think anyones dying statement ever contained the words "I wish I had spent more time in the office", so lets go somewhere!

I've got an old '82 Chevy Shasta and just got back from a 3 day trip to a USFS lake (no camping fees) only 30 miles from home and had a blast. Took my new kayak, that mounts on the back, and had a great time fishing. I'm finding out that you don't have to make those long trips to have fun. On long trips you spend way too much of your precious time just driving (wasting gas) and not camping. Look around your state and I'm sure you'll find some great little areas to visit that won't bust the bank. Good Luck.
