does anyone know the best solution for renting a scooter for about 2 weeks?

I am taking my 85yo dad to Mt rushmore this summer land am in need of one for a shot period of time. It must be light weight enough that I can lift it my self, and It needs to be inexpensive enough not to add a bunch of money to the costs of the trip.

any Ideas?

Thanks in advance

IMO ask these folks. We've never used them as we always carry our own scooters, but we get their newsletter.

Have fun.

Hi,
You might call around to local durable medical equipment stores and explain your needs.
Here in OKC most dealers have a few chairs and scooters they rent out.
Good Luck,

Craigslist might be of some help. Sometimes they sell stuff as cheap as a rental might be.

My wife and I went to Sam's Club last year, bought Schwinn electric scooters for about $280 each. They have 36 volt batteries and go real well. I shortened the "pipe" the seat sits on and we can both put our feet down whenever we want. We don't go fast. If you take the battery pack out, the unit weighs something like 35 pounds. The batteries weigh something like 30 pounds.

It is just one option for you. Good luck with your dad, I sure wish I could taken my dad somewhere. He hit Alzheimers early and could get violent when he was taken out of their home.
