Wayne, I made no assumptions, I went 100% by what they said. Aside from that why on earth could they not keep me up to date via e-mail or phone call, I understand this is a busy time of year, but this is my first trailer purchase, however not my first major purchase. I have been on the other end where I have been the salesperson, and not everything was going as planned, and I made a point to keep the customer abreast of issues, and they were ussually very appreciative of being updated. If I was retired this would not have been an issue, but being a working man still it really messed with my schedule. Anyway trailer is off assembly line now I am waiting for final financing paperwork.

swebbs,

I agree that delays are very frustrating (I experienced them as well), but often times the sales reps are not even aware of delays at the factory. I ended up calling Jayco directly myself for a couple of things (timing on delivery of new model year & to negotiate a discount due to higher price of the 08's). I wish I could say that in my case it was due to a poor sales person, but I think this is pretty much what you get when you deal with a discount broker. I consoled myself by spreading all the cash I saved out on the floor and rolling around in it for a while. It seemed to help.

I was going to go through RV Direct for financing and found their rate of 7.75 for 240 months to be high. After speaking to pretty much every lender out there I found my local State Farm office had the best deal which was 6.39 for 240 months financing around 58K dollars. Lots of companies like PRC want to charge silly fees like origination and I knew that wasn't right and then others are requiring a 10 to 15% down payment. Another issue I ran into was trying to put it into my business name, lots of lenders won't do it because they consider it a commercial loan. My advice is to shop around for the financing if you haven't already done so.

Steve, see my complete reply/post under General RV Issues and titled RVDirect Prep Delays. Our experience did not include any delay due to change in options or financing as it was a cash purchase as originally ordered.

The 3 week delay is correct, and the communication breakdown was also correct. Salesperson lets you beleive that once unit is completed that pickup can and should occur within 2 weeks in Des Moines, just not true. I am picking our Jayco up this Friday about 4 weeks from expected date. I am still happy about the $$$$ I saved, just think that they could do better communicating actual time lines. Steve

I dealt with a large, nationally advertised dealership who is definitely NOT a discount broker, and the service I've received after the sale was TERRIBLE. My experience causes me to respectfully disagree with you.

I agree 100% that the seller should keep the buyer informed if "promised" delivery dates cannot be met, but I also think estimated delivery dates are about as accurate as weather forecasting.

Phemens, sorry for the frustration. Eventually you'll get your camper and all will be good.

I bought our 26L from them. Picked it up in Des Moines. Our purchase was a STOCK model and lots of stuff was wrong with it. I was very upset.

There is a reason you may want to pay a bit more and shop locally. If our 26L was still being made, our local dealer will usually come within a few dollars of RDV. I wish we could have ordered and saved the hassle.

Bought out Rockwood Roo 21ss from RVD last year. Told me the build time was 12 weeks. I ordered it in May, and I took delivery on Aug. 10. From the Indiana RVD dealership. So it was roughly 12 weeks. There was little to no communication from RVD to me. I initiated all the converstaions. Sometimes it took multiple attempts. Also I needed a few things looked at under warranty after a few camping trips. I went to the Des Moines dealership for that. 1 of the issues was cracked skirting around the slide side wheels. I live 3 hours from Des Moines so with gas being what it is I wanted to make sure they had all the parts required for my fixes before i made the trek down there. I got the camper down there, they told me it would be done in 3 hours I went back in 3 hours. The skirting was not fixed, they ordered(or received) the wrong skirt for my camper. I left the camper and had to go back down 2 weeks later to pick it up... Sorry this is so long. I did save some money. But for the hassles not sure if it was worth it..

I ordered mine on June 12 i had Steve Boulton as well i found him to be honest and upfront normal del is 8 weeks but as he stated and i understand its the same as a car bought new . It maybe 8 weeks but allow at least another 2 weeks to have it brought from the factory to RVD. Im in NY and albany is where they are deliver it and fig another week to have them prep it so im fig about 10-11 weeks also take into fact that the roo factory will be closed for weeks vac in july At least he was upfront with us so far we had good experience, Never beleive a salesman if he will give you an exact date cause he dont know himself, he might know when its going to be built but from that day after its in hands of Transportation .Remember when your dealing wholesale all they dio as well as a dealer is place a order, when factory tells them that its ready to be shipped to them thats when youll be notified. Also we are at the mercy of the repair people if there service sucks then your infor a whole other can of******lol
